Chapter 22 by Yabusa Yabusa

What is Lina's final decision?

She'll join you

"I'm looking forward to becoming a part of the collection of entities that you are composed of, Juno. Tina is, as well--we will both fully join you, and we'll share everything."

Before you could say anything, Lina's remaining nanites began to pour into your mouth, as well as into the armored suit you wore. This time, it wasn't just for control, but she was creating mechanical structures and devices as she went, you could see glowing letters and numbers appearing on Tina's armor panels, sort of like she was displaying vital information, or other useful data about yourself and your surroundings. This was likely the future that the other scientists had envisioned, this integration of mechanical and organic in a harmonious joining, but the display of the nanites within you took a very interesting, exotic turn.

You opened up your bodysuit exterior somewhat, so slime could exit and flow into Tina, and you'd noticed that now your slime was a light blue, and had a light glow to it. The nanites were integrating deeply into you already, but it wasn't until your new glowing blue slime flowed into Tina's body that you connected with the rest of Lina and felt her become a part of you.

You could sense Lina's whole network inside you, inside Tina. Every little cluster of nanites were doing something on their own, creating devices, sensors that extended beyond your normal human senses. You could pick up radio waves, feel electromagnetic currents. You could practically see the areas of spotty WiFi as you around, all brought into your mind from the nanites. They burrowed everywhere, as deep as the slime had gone in you, but they integrated further, nanites burrowing into your skin, internal organs, everything was connected with Lina's network more so than the slime had provided--It felt less like you were layered with slime, and more like you were fully permeated with this new slime-nanite hybrid material. You were what blurred the line between technology and flesh.

As a result, your skin had taken on a sort of glittery pattern to it--as blue glowing streaks ran along your arms and legs, along your neck and up the sides of your face by your ears, in patterns reminiscent of a circuitboard, demonstrating the nanite's presence within you and representing an easy pathway for nanites to pour in and out of your body. You tested this by thinking of a simple watch, and the nanites poured from your arm, even slipping outside of the armored suit still around you, to form a timekeeping device. That was a thrill in itself, that you could conjure up digital devices at will. The nanites weren't strong enough to form solid tools, but you were sure that was something you'd consider in the future.

Tina's integration into you was not long after. Your sense of her was strange, as her mind and body were incredibly alien compared to any other part of you. She was essentially a giant insect, her 'head' nestled right below your breasts, about where your ribcage met in the center. You could feel the armored suit around you, the muscles connected to the plates, how they moved unlike anything you'd been familiar with. Immediately you tested some of this movement, which felt a lot like curling your fingers together but on a grander scale, pulling back from a full suit from the neck down to the much more revealing covering from before, where there was plenty of cleavage and skin being shown off from your torso and legs, with your arms completely bare. It gave you a much better look at your sparkling skin with glowing lines. Even your white hair seemed to have some of that nanite sparkle in it, creating a sort of pearly sheen when the light hit it just right.

You stood again, your mind filled with profound new perspectives, augmented by a technologically-designed mind, as well as that of this insect-like brain which seemed to almost prefer the concept of a hive mind rather than retain independence.

You emerged from the chamber to audible gasps from the science staff, as well as the military personnel who had accompanied them down to watch your progress. No one really knew what to expect, but they certainly hadn't anticipated the beauty of your full integration. From the very center of your core to the shimmering armored encasement, you were the full embodiment of twenty years of research for Project Inside Out, and you represented an achievement nobody in the room would have even guessed was possible.

"So," you began, looking around at everyone with a smile, putting the hands on your lovely hips encased in the exotic, shimmering organic armor. "What tests shall we run first?"

How do the scientists choose to examine you?
