Share the beer

"How about we open up one of these kegs and see what we're dealing with?" You suggest hopefully.

Rei's eyes widen. "That's what those are?!" She exclaims. "Yup, think so." Says Lance. "And Anna, I think you're right, we should at least check the contents. Would be a shame if we'd carried three kegs of sand all the way back."

"Oh my god, keg Party!" Jokes Rei, with obvious excitement.

" Yeah, yeah, party girl... " teases lance. "Go and get me a glass or something from the kitchen, and then you can start making dinner."

"Spoil sport." She grins, sticking her tongue out at her dad as she leaves the room.

The tap turned out to be a bit stiffer than expected, but after Rei returns with three mugs, rather than one, Lance sticks the first under the spout and confirmed, first by smell, then taste, that the keg did indeed contain beer. And in surprisingly good condition.

"All right, share the wealth cheapskate!" demands Rei, shoving the remaining mugs in Lance's direction. "Fine, but Anna gets first, as she actually discovered the stuff." Says lance, filling the first mug and handing it to you, then doing the same for his daughter.

"To new friends!" Toasts Rei, with enthusiasm. " You laugh and raise your mug , the three of you knocking them together with a gently splash.

Two rounds later, all pretenses of having a sober evening meal have been abandoned. Lance does however stand, announcing that you should at least try to eat something, if the three of you are going to continue drinking much longer. He heads into the kitchen.

Rei sits in fornt of you to your left, with her back to the kitchen door, so that over her shoulder you can see glimpses of her father opening cupboards grabbing pans. The three of you have been getting to know each other better, and the two of you feel very at ease together.
