Shameless Self Insertion, Round 2

The case opened to reveal not a punishment for Ali, but a reward...of sorts. It wasn't money, or a wish or anything potentially useful that she knew was in there somewhere, but rather a pair of dice that would change the very rules of the game on her. This was, she knew, a for better or worse proposition; one that would offer some potentially positives directions for the game, as well as some utterly disastrous ones.

"Well, that's an interesting turn of events," Jack said mildly. "Looks like we're changing the tenor of the game just as it's getting started."

"Joy," Ali said bluntly. "What have you got for me?"

"Let's find out!"

Jack turned to the board, which obediently began to fill with options.

1. Popular Sovereignty - Instead of offering our own options for Ali's changes, we'll take suggestions from the audience and cherry pick the ones we like best.

2. Veto Powers - Ali can veto any popularly supported changes she doesn't like, but will have to accept the runner up. If 60% of the votes are for a single option, it cannot be vetoed.

3. Shock and Awe - There's no kill like overkill. Ali will henceforth only get options that are **** in their novelty, potential to humiliate her and impact on her life.

4. Permanent Revolution - No matter what rewards Ali achieves, she can't quit until she's opened every single one of the punishment boxes.

5. Budget Surplus - Ali won't get a single result every round, she's guaranteed at least two!

Ali considered those. Obviously 3 and 4 were trouble. 5 wasn't exactly a picnic either, and she was afraid of what kind of crazy shenanigans a direct audience could come up with it. Really 2 was the only reasonable one. All she could do was sit back and wait for the votes.
