Chapter 4

Carry on or settle down?
Settle down
The sun is setting in the horizon. You can feel your clothes drenched in sweat. You decide to settle down and call it a day.
You have been traveling alone for days. far away from civilization. You have no problem with food and water since you are experienced enough to forage fruits, find bodies of water, get fish from it, and proficient enough with a sling so that you can easily hunt small animals.
Beneath your cape and leather corset, your form fitting, glossy silk blouse does a good job to accentuate your voluptuous body, and so do your tight, short skirt and leggings. Despite having been in wilderness for quite a while, your clothes show no sign of tearing or holes, and not much dirt sticking on them. Although those are definitely disheveled by now.
Your clothes also have never left your skin since before you started your journey as you walk, hunt and sleep in them, as you don't bring spare clothes. Now they are glued to your skin by days old, unwashed sweat that was baked under the sun. You always found occasional springs and small rivers in the woods, which, aside from filling your canteen, you used them to wash your face and hair, but that's it for personal cleanliness.
You think being alone, naked in the water and in the middle of nowhere without anyone to guard your belongings is not a good idea. Your skin feel sticky and a bit itchy, yet you don't seem to be bothered by that, or the fact that you have been skipping baths for days. The latter might be because there's nobody around.
And it's not like there would be any monster that's attracted to the ripe, sweet-musky odor of your unwashed body....right?
You put aside your cape and walking stick and unpack the content of your backpack which includes bedroll and food. You started a campfire and start cooking.
As you enjoy your dinner you observe the forest around you. There are sounds of crickets, night birds, leaves and other sounds that forests make after sundown. You think this so-called "forbidden forest" is no different than any other forest. Nothing that shows sign of imminent danger. You then pack up and lie on your bedroll. You fall asleep shortly.
You wake up in the middle of the night. You see the campfire in front of you has faded into a few embers. You finish drinking from your canteen before you feel familiar sensation of stirring and cramp in your lower stomach.
"Ughh... it's now of all times?" you mumble and groan while putting your hand on your belly.
Right, there's a certain, regular daily routine that you usually did every morning, but now you do in lesser, irregular frequency to save time on travel. The last time you go was two days ago. Or perhaps more? It doesn't matter, when the urge hits, then going is obligatory. And the urge hits you right now. You immediately scurry to the nearest bush to do your ease.
"Oh boy...oh boy...this is gonna be a big one.....huh?"
As you are about to start disrobing your lower garments you notice something off and stop immediately. You feel the hair at the nape of your neck rising. The sounds of crickets, owls and other animals are no more. Not even winds blowing.
It's only silence now.
What should you do?
