Seek out Shadowheart

I stand over my bedroll, contemplating my choices. From all sides I feel eyes on me, waiting for my answer. After a moment, I set my shoulders and prepare myself to potentially break my connection with Lae'zel.

I turn to Shadowheart, and walk over to her. Behind me I hear the jingle of coin being exchanged, and Lae'zel fuming. Shadowheart on the other hand has a genuine smile on her face. She grasps the bottle she presented earlier and stands, holding her hands behind her back.

Shadowheart: "I wasnt sure youd choose me"

Tav: "Why wouldnt I?"

Shadowheart: "My pants are staying on?"

Tav: "Theres more to life than sex."

Shadowheart: "I didnt expect such a mature answer from you."

Tav: "I'm full of surprises. You mentioned you found somewhere? I'd like to get out of here before those daggers Lae'zel is glaring at me draw blood."

Shadowheart nods and takes one of my hands in her own. With a skip in her step she leads me away from camp, heading upwards for about 10 minutes. After the brief hike, a small clearing atop a little waterfall comes into view. Shadowheart sits on the edge with her feet hanging over. With a smile, I sit beside her.

Tav: "Cute place. How'd you find it?"

Shadowheart uncorks the wine and takes a swig, then passes it to me.

Shadowheart: "You spend a lot of time fucking. I spend it exploring."

Tav: "Fair enough."

Shadowheart: "What made you choose me?"

Tav: "Hmm?"

Shadowheart: "Why'd you choose me? I told you straight up that we arent fucking. From the looks of it Lae'zel was ready to jump your bones, and that Teifling girl...."

Tav: "Lia"

Shadowheart: "Lia! Lia looked smitten enough to bend over."

I chuckle and sigh, taking a big swig of the wine and passing it back.

Tav: "I know what I like..."

Shadowheart: "And whats that?"

Tav: "I like to have the choice of what we do."

Shadowheart: "Which is fuck?"

Tav: "Well, yes. But, what I mean is HOW we fuck."

Shadowheart: "What do you mean?"

Tav: "I like to have the choice."

Shadowheart: "Between what?"

Tav: "Do I really have to spell it out?"

Shadowheart: "Please"

I sigh and take another swig of the wine.

Tav: "I like to have the choice between submissive and dominant."

Shadowheart snorts and chokes on her mouthful of wine laughing.

Shadowheart: "You choose?"

Tav: "Yeah. I lean dominant, but sometimes I just want to sit back and let her do all the work."

Shadowheart: "You manipulate them?"

Tav: "No! Of course not.... yeah I guess so."

Shadowheart: "That still sounds dominant to me."

Tav: "... I suppose it is."

Shadowheart: "And thats why you didnt want Lae'zel or Lia? One submits and the other dominates?"

Tav: "Exactly. Enough about me. What about you?"

Shadowheart: "Still sounds like a choice to me, but alright. What about me?"

Tav: "Well, I told you my preferences, tell me yours?"

Shadowheart: "Fairs fair I suppose. But after this we need to tone down the horny."

Tav: "Agreed."

Shadowheart: "Hmm... I'm submissive."

Tav: "I noticed."

Shadowheart shrugs and takes another gulp.

Shadowheart: "I dont try to hide it..."

Tav: "How submissive are we talking about here?"

Shadowheart: "What happened to toning down the horny?"

Tav: "You told me something I already knew!"

Shadowheart: "Ugh, to hells with that silver tongue of yours! Fine. Im VERY submissive. I didnt vote you to be in charge for no reason."

Shadowheart blushes a deep red and punches my shoulder.

Tav: "I wont take advantage."

Shadowheart: "Thank you"

We finish the bottle off make idle chatter as pur final energy reserves ebb away. Side by side, we sleep on the uncomfortable rocks, but the company makes it bearable.

Hours pass and we wake up, gazing into each others eyes. I read an invitation in her eyes and I take it. I lean forward and kiss her. She kisses me back.

We're locked together for a few minutes before she breaks away.

Shadowheart: "We should get back. I'm sure the others are waiting."
