Search the nearby rooms

You don't trust the book. Why would it be just sitting on the floor, right out of your view? It felt like a trap. However, you needed to grab it. Without it, you would get lost and fall victim to Alex's creations. You needed something long to obtain the book, without entering the room. The knife wouldn't work, it was too short.

To your left, there was a dead end hallway with a few rooms. You decided to search them for something long to use, such as a crowbar. You entered the first room to your left. Inside was a transformation machine. However, it wasn't hooked up to anything. A couple of desks and boxes lay about, but nothing you could use.

The second room was a bit more promising. It seemed to be a storeroom of sorts. It was connected to several side rooms via open doorways, and even had an overhanging balcony. The room was filled with marble statues of naked women in seductive poses. You grinned and checked them out. They'd never be as good as the real things, but a little sculpture porn couldn't hurt.

"These must be used for decoration up top." You thought to yourself. "Odd though, why keep them locked up down here?"

You decided to look around. You didn't find anything. Only more empty boxes and marble statues.

"Hmm..." You mumbled to yourself. "What if I just... Push one over, and use a limb? The noise might be loud, but I think I'm far away enough from inhabited rooms that I can break one."

You approached a statue. You placed your hands on it's breasts and were about to shove it over when you noticed something. It wasn't just a statue of some generic girl. You KNEW this girl. It was Shantae, who had gone missing along with Samus and D.va. She was in a seductive pose, her hands on her legs and her butt jutting outwards. She was winking and had a smile on her face, but you were certain it was the same Shantae that you knew from the maiden's hall. She had somehow been turned to stone.

Suddenly, you hear a door slam open from up on the balcony. There, you see a woman with orange snakes for hair, scanning the room as if looking for something. Like the snake-woman you saw, she's stark naked, and has little a-cup sized breasts. [Asuka, NGE]

You quickly scatter away as fast as you can. You hear a "SMASH" behind you as Shantae falls over and breaks into several pieces. "Sorry, dear..." You think to yourself. "There was no saving you..." You duck into one of the connecting rooms and hide behind a solidified Princess Daisy who happens to be fingering herself.

"Hey, there, sweetie..." You hear the woman call gently. "Why don't you come out where I can see you? Don't you want to get a good look at me?" You gulp. You know exactly what this creation is. A Gorgon. You weren't sure how, but you knew that if you looked it right in the eyes, you too would be turned into a statue.

The gorgon's footsteps grew closer. The quiet hissing of her snakes grew ever closer to your hiding spot. You heard a strange sniffing sound. It appeared that many of Alex's creations, at least those with animal features, had enhanced senses. You looked around for some kind of escape, but all you could find was your stainless steel knife, shining brightly at your side. Before long, the creature would find you... You had to make a move.
