Chapter 6 by thesuperman90 thesuperman90

What do they do next?

Sean presents a more direct approach.

Jessica collapsed onto the floor of her room, a place she used to feel safe, and began sobbing heavly. She didn't want to be tied to anyone for the rest of her life. She was only eighteen for crying out loud. Her hands covered her face, expecting the worst to come as Sean very likely would realize the amount of power he now held and it would soon corrupt him.

Wishes were the very farthest thing from Sean's mind as he knelt down beside the distraught girl. He wasn't the best at giving advice in situations like these, but he was good at providing comfort. The tall, muscular boy wrapped his arms around Jessica and just held her. She fought him at first thinking that he was trying to harm her, but then he just started whispering into her ear, "Shhhhh....it's okay. I know this seems bad, but we'll figure this out together, OK?" He just rocked her in his arms, kneeling next to her, not knowing if there was anything else he could do for her.

After what seemed like hours, but was probably only fifteen to twenty minutes, her crying seemed to subside and Jess looked up at him with red, swollen eyes, not even a hint of a smile on her face. "Well Master. Get on with it."

He looked down at her, too stunned at the wording to really absorb the dejected, resigned tone in her voice. Sean cocked his head to the side and looked to her quizzically, "What do you mean, 'Get on with it,' Jess?"

She sighed and moved to sit on her bed and shrugged, "You have the most sought after relic on Earth in your possession right now, Master. Wish away and let's get this over with."

He stood up, almost mad that anyone would assume such a terrible thing about him, but then he realized that this was much bigger than him, and that he wasn't the victim at all. Turning away from her, Sean crossed his arms, trying to calm the anger inside him. Sure, he felt the pull to start making wishes and just manipulate reality to his whims.

It would be easy. All he would need to do is just say the words... but words are what had gotten him into this mess to begin with. Sighing he turned back around and sat down on the floor at her feet. "I don't want to **** you Jessica. I'm not going to take advantage of you like you think I will." His face was awash with emotion, the most prevalent being embarrassment, "All I want to do right now is figure out how to get this ring back into your possession... but I don't think it will work out because of how I worded the wish."

The buxom blonde looked down to him, surprised to be having this conversation. In every reality she had played out in her mind, Kevin, Brad, and a whole host of other people had taken the ring and only used it to punish her, or make her suffer... but here, in this moment, Sean had the ring, and he said he had no desire to wish her life or reality away. "What do you mean Master?"

The boy sighed again and tried to figure out a way to repeat his wish without using the word wish. "Well, when I made that offhand comment about the ring I used the word, 'forever'. I said, 'I blank it was mine forever.'" The look on Jess' face when Sean carefully avoided saying the word she dreaded most right now, helped relieve her stress a bit.

Could it be? she thought, Could he actually be a good guy?

"Okay. So what do you suggest Master?" Jessica asked as she crossed her legs under her and listened, still frustrated because she had tried using his name again, but it seemed like he had more to say so she kept that to herself.

Sean took a deep breath and looked Jessica in the face and said, "I don't think this ring is coming off anytime soon, but I think we should eliminate the possibility that it is as simple as a... request.

Jessica sighed, and realized that he was right. A wish had gotten this whole thing started, and one just might get them out of it. Closing her eyes a moment, Jess nodded, "Okay. Try it."

Sean took her hand, "Are you sure? I promise not to use this unless I am with you and I have your permission first. Okay?"

The blonde looked into his eyes and, perhaps a bit naively, she trusted him. "Okay, but hopefully this works."

He nodded and thought of the wording he wanted to use, "Okay. Here goes: I wish I had never wished to keep this ring forever."

They both waited, Jess was tense, and uneasy, but there was nothing to show that the wish had worked. Sean took off the ring, handed it to Jess...where it promptly disappeared and popped back onto Sean's finger again. Both teens sighed in frustration.

What do they try next?
