What happens on Monday morning?

Sean and Jess head to school & a slip of the tongue

On Monday morning Sean is up bright and early, ready to tackle his first day at school with a girlfriend. When he checks his phone as he gets out of the shower, he notices three things: One, he has a message from Jess saying she will be there to pick him up on her way to school and to be ready by eight o'clock. Two, he has roughly another two hundred notifications from Facebook reacting to his and Jess' new relationship status (which brings a smile to his face) since they have all seemed to be pretty positive so far. And three, it is now 7:55 A.M., so he has five minutes to get dressed, pack his backpack, and grab a food bar for breakfast.

At eight o'clock sharp, Jessica pulled into Sean's driveway to find it empty. She looked down at her phone to be sure he got the text, it was left on 'Read', but by the time she looked back up, Sean was walking out the front door of his house with a mouthful of whatever his breakfast had been. She was relieved and happy that, after spending a full day apart, and pretty much unable to text or call one another, he was still just as excited to see her. He had finished his breakfast and was leaning in for a kiss.

Putting her arms around her master's neck Jess felt like she had missed him more than she could imagine. Briefly she wondered if it was her teenage hormones, her love for him, or the ring. No matter what it was, she was genuinely happy to be in his presence again. As she pulls out of Sean's driveway heading towards the school, she voices something that has been on her mind for the entire day yesterday, "So...are you at all nervous how this is going to play out when we walk into school today?"

It was a simple question, but the implications were inherent, she wanted to know how he would deal with being one of the most popular guys in school now, at just the mere suggestion that he was dating Jess, let alone walking through the school hand in hand. Sean chuckled and just stroked her thigh as she drove the last few blocks to school, "Honestly, as long as I have your love, that's all I care about." Jessica blushed and pulled into a spot in the student parking lot, and leaned over for a kiss.

They walked up to the school hand in hand, with pretty much everyone stopping to see the new 'power-couple' (if they only knew!) as they made their grand entrance. When the doors of the school opened up, it was pretty underwhelming to Sean, actually. There was no camera crew waiting to interview him, and the throngs of adoring fans he expected Jess to have just weren't there. He chuckled and shook his head with laughter.

Jess looked at him funny and frowned, "What is it?"

He just shrugged and looked around, motioning with his hand, "With all the hooplah on Facebook yesterday, I was expecting there to be a huge crowd of people or something."

The busty blonde cheerleader laughed and kissed his cheek from her tiptoes and shook her own head, "People are always more enthusiastic about these things online than they are in real life."

As they head to her locker, Jess overhears some commotion and sure enough Tiff and Sam are waiting there for them. Both the dark haired girl and the bubbly redhead run down the hallway and practically tackle them with hugs, expressing happiness at their budding romance.

"You know," Sam said as Tiff helped Jess get her books for first period, "I had a feeling there was something between you two... just call it a BFF's intuition." Jess rolled her eyes as Tiff held her stomach, and stuck out her tongue in mild pain at the girls.

When Jessica frowned in confusion at the raven haired cheerleader, Tiff leaned over and whispered in her ear. Jess nodded, understanding and grabbing some pain reliever from her locker and handing it to her friend, sympathetic to the cramps from that time of the month... all color drained from Jessica's face and she dropped her books on the floor.

Sean saw her pale face and rushed over to her from where he was talking to a couple of friends near his locker across the hall. She realized something important and looked her boyfriend in the eyes, and just took a gulp of air, then laughed nervously, "It-it's OK. I just forgot to do something my dad asked me to do yesterday. I might be in a bit of trouble when I get home." Sean frowned, knowing she wasn't being honest, but also knowing she didn't want to discuss it here based on her face and the blush now creeping up on her.

They are both lost in thought when the warning bell rings and they start heading different directions. Tiff, Sam, and Jessica in one direction, and Sean off the complete opposite way. When they realize this, Sean slumps down to his girlfriend and pulls her in for a quick hug. "I feel like we just got back in each other's company! I hate leaving you."

He just looked into her eyes and spoke his thoughts out loud, "I just wish we were always close to one another so we didn't have to spend so much time apart."

The familiar feeling shot up his arm, and almost went unnoticed, until he felt Jessica's arms grip him tight and she whispered into his ear, "Oh shit... Ph-phrasing Sean... phrasing!" Then there was a flash of light and the world went completely white.

How deep does this change go?
