Chapter 159 by lew54321

How does Emma answer?

Save it for later

“I think I’m gonna wait until later” Emma decided, breaking the silence before she carried on explaining.

“Although I hope it all goes well, I don’t think either of us wants to have to sit through dinner if Sarah reacts the wrong way” Emma confessed.

“Ah yeah, fair point” you replied, instantly agreeing with her that you wouldn’t want to sit through that either.

From what you knew about Sarah, it was unlikely that she would blurt everything out even if the meeting went poorly but you could understand Emma’s concern given that she had less experience dealing with your sister. Lucy on the other hand would literally tell everyone she ever knew if it meant somehow getting one over on you so currently she was at dead last on the list of people you were willing to reveal your secrets to.

With the two of you deciding to wait until later, you led Emma into the living room and the two of you sat down on the sofa opposite where Lucy was sitting. You settled down to get comfy and Emma sat down beside you, leaning against your shoulder to stay close. Lucy would have normally been more interested in whatever was on TV if it was just you in the room with her but it seemed her curiosity had been spiked now that she saw the two of you close together.

She started off asking Emma how she had been since she last saw her and if there was anything she had missed while she had gone to college. You joined in whenever Emma was trying to remember events the two of you had gone to together but Emma did most of the talking as she filled Lucy in. The questions seemed innocent to start with but knowing your sister, this seemed to be only a prelude to what she really wanted to ask.

“So, how did Idiot over there confess? Or did you have to do it for him?” Lucy asked Emma, instantly making you wish you hadn’t entertained the idea of having a conversation with her.

“Oh God” you blurted out, leaning your head back in exasperation, trying to hide your embarrassment before you looked across towards Emma to see her reaction.

You saw her blush at the question but once she met your eyes, a devilish smile appeared on her face, instantly making you regret teasing her earlier with Grace. For the next 15 minutes, you had to sit there while Emma retold the tale of your lukewarm confession and both of them seemed to luxuriate in taking the opportunity to humiliate you with further details and stories while they could. You followed along with the conversation to make sure Lucy’s repeated questions didn’t go too far but all you could think about was getting your ****.

As far as you were concerned, Emma was just getting her own payback for the car ride she had had to put up with but Lucy was the one who had attacked you unprovoked. If she was the one who wanted to start playing games you were happy to play along. You could see the smirk on her face grow as the minutes passed and the occasional side-eyed look she kept giving you finally made you want to speak up. You knew how you wanted to get back at her and it only took a little longer for your opportunity to strike.

“Aww that's Hilarious, I can’t even imagine this dweeb taking anyone on a date” Lucy laughed, having listened to Emma talk about your coffee shop date from only a few days ago.

“Speaking of dates, how are things going with you and your boyfriend?” you asked, trying your hardest not to smirk as you saw Lucy’s expression falter for a split second, only for it to return to normal as if it hadn’t even changed in the first place.

“What do you mean? I’m not dating anyone” She replied, sounding more defensive than she probably intended to.

“Huh really? I could have sworn that I could have heard you talking on the phone with them Friday night, something about how you were exhausted from the drive up here. The two of you sounded pretty close” you explained, watching Lucy realise you weren’t bluffing.

The room filled with an awkward silence as you and Lucy continued to stare at each other with neither of you willing to back down, leaving Emma stuck in the middle without any feasible way of starting the conversation back up.

“Dinner is nearly ready! Max, Lucy! Can one of you go and get Sarah?” Mom shouted from the kitchen, with only her voice and the lowered volume of the TV making any noise.

“I’ll get her!” Emma replied, jumping at the chance of getting out of the situation you had created.

You stayed where you were sat as Emma quickly left, turning your attention back to Lucy once Emma had left the room. Lucy also stayed sitting but unlike you, she leaned forward with a look that you would have found intimidating only a few weeks ago.

“I don’t know what you heard or why you’ve been spying on me but you need to watch what you say. We wouldn’t want your girlfriend finding out about your little nighttime adventures with Mom would you?” spat Lucy, attempting to **** you right back.

“Who said anything about telling anyone. I’m just letting you know what I heard just out of curiosity. If you don’t want Sarah and Mom to know that you’ve kept your relationships and your ‘college’ activities hidden from them then that's fine by me” you replied, keeping yourself relaxed on the sofa to act as casual as you could.

With Lucy giving her ultimatum, it seemed like she believed that you wouldn’t be going around spilling secrets anytime soon given that she thought she held something over you. Technically she did have some leverage given that Emma might have to admit to already knowing about Mom, something you were sure she wasn’t ready to handle until at least after the planned conversation with Sarah.

“Well then, I’m glad we understand each other” Lucy declared, leaning back into the sofa as she turned back towards the TV.

You did the same and waited for Emma to return, getting slightly worried as more time passed than you had expected her to take. You were about to go and investigate when you heard the sound of footsteps stomping down the stairs. You would have expected Sarah to be more graceful given her cheerleading but you could tell right away that it was her and not Emma who was making all the noise.

Both Sarah and Emma popped their heads into the room and given the still frosty atmosphere, Emma decided to go and help Sarah before she could get caught in the middle of something again. Lucy also seemed to be a bit bored as she opted to get up and head out of the room, passing you by as she did so.

“So who’s the lucky guy?” you asked with a smirk, not able to resist adding one more comment.

“None of your business” Lucy curtly responded, clicking her tongue at you before she left.

That left you on your own in the room but with everybody helping out with dinner preparations, you got up to give them a hand as well.

Do you get to help?
