You sleep the sleep of the dead not waking until well after noon. You awaken with the usual after effects of ****, that being dry sticky mouth, sensitivity to light, and a mild headache. You are glad you had taken that aspirin before going to bed, as this mild headache would have been killer if you hadn't.
You open your eye to see Melody's bed empty and unmade. You think you hear the shower running, but that may be the blood rushing through your ears.
You unsteadily make your way to your feet, and stumble towards the bathroom. As you do the front door opens and Melody walks in with a bag of new clothes. She sees you, yelps and hides the bag behind herself. "Oh, Jack...uhm, hey...how are you feeling?" She asks, smiling tumultuously.
You grumble something incoherently, you think you said fine, but you wouldn't be a penny on it having been understood, as you stumble past her. You grab a glass off the shelf and close the door behind you. You grab the bottle of aspirin out of the cabinet and turn the faucet on to cool that water off. You pop two aspirin into your mouth and down them with a gulp of water each. Topping off the glass you go to exit the bathroom.
"Jack!! Could you stay in the bathroom for five minutes more? Please? I...I have a surprise for you and it's not ready yet!"
You snort, but smile. You figure she got you something at the store to make up for all the things she said to you. All right, fine, I'll bite, you think to yourself and close the door again.
You put the toilet cover down and sit down leaning your head back against the wall.
At the seven minute mark you hear Melody call out again, "O-okay...you can come out now!"
Despite yourself you feel the anticipation grow in you as you get up off the toilet and make you way to the door, wondering what she could have gotten you.
