The two of them stood for a second, silently eating their breakfast. Jake noticed that Sarah was staring at him, and was about to ask why when she reached out and used her thumb to get a little bit of jelly off his face. Then she rinsed her thumb in the sink and went back to her own muffin, covered in strawberries.
Jake opened his mouth, wanting to tell Sarah that he'd had a dream about her. He planned to change the topic of course, he was going to make it up as he went along. But he had wanted to see her reaction, see if he could make her laugh over it.
Instead, Maria and Carla came out of the bedroom upstairs, all giggles. They went to the kitchen, having spotted the breakfast. "Breakfast, Girls?" Jake asked them, and they began picking at the various fruit long before they touched an English muffin.
After an enjoyable breakfast, it was indeed time for the girls time head home. It had been an unusual but pleasant time. This ended Jakes first encounter with the girls, but it wouldn't be the last time he had adventures with them.
