Sarah left the house
"Sarah, stop it," she said firmly. "I know this looks strange, but you need to trust me. Nothing inappropriate happened. Alex needed comfort, and I offered him a safe place to stay. He’s been through a lot, and he needed someone to care for him. Show him some empathy."
But Sarah’s anger didn’t wane. She shook her head, eyes blazing with frustration. "Empathy? This is just... wrong. I can't believe you'd do this, Mom."
Without another word, Sarah reached into her pocket, pulling out a folded letter. She tossed it in front of you, her jaw clenched as she turned and stormed out of the room. The door slammed behind her, the sound echoing in the silence that followed.
You stared at the letter on the bed, your hands shaking as you picked it up. The tension in the room hung heavy, the weight of Sarah’s words still pressing down on you. Mrs. Geoff sighed, running a hand through her hair, clearly shaken by Sarah’s outburst.
"I’m sorry," you muttered, feeling guilt creeping in. "I didn’t mean for this to happen."
Mrs. Geoff placed a hand on your shoulder. "Don’t apologize, Alex. Sarah overreacted. She’ll come around. But you need to take care of yourself right now."
