"Erica"
Erica knows that it's her mother calling her, even through the weak voice. Normally, she would listen to her mother and find out what she wants, but this is anything but normal. Her mom humiliated her in front of her family and strangers at the airport. All for just complaining about not having enough clothes. She is so hurt that she doesn't want to even look at her.
"Erica baby, please look at me. Please?" Sarah implores.
Erica concedes and turns to look at her mom. Sarah looks like a mess. Her hair is wildly tossed about. Her face is wet with tears while showing emotions of fear, guilty, sadness, pain, and embarrassment. Her naked body is quivering with fear and cold. She is a wreck. This makes Erica even more conflicted between feeling hatred for her mom and feeling sorry for her.
"I am so, so sorry, Erica. I was wrong. You weren't acting spoiled; I was," Sarah laments with a croaking voice. " All you wanted was more clothes, and I punished you wrongly. And now I that have been punished the same way, I realized how horrible I am. You're my daughter. I was to protect you, and I failed badly. I'm so sorry."
" Please forgive me, baby girl. Swear to you, I make it up to you. Please forgive me. Please," Sarah begs as more tears left her eyes.
