Who do you want to talk to?
Samantha - Genius Girl Next Door
You turn to the girl seated to your left, her baseball cap and hoodie giving her a casual appearance, her hair pulled back into a ponytail. She looks like just an average girl at first but you can tell that she's deceivingly well proportioned.
"Hey there, could you tell me a bit about yourself?" you ask offering a friendly smile.
She gives you an odd look before choosing to respond. "Hey," she says, her tone a touch guarded. "I'm Samantha Baker and I'm Greek Australian. You can call me Sam or Sammy for short."
"Nice to meet you, Sammy," you reply, noting the unique combination of her heritage with interest.
"My main role is being the Historian for this unit," she explains.
After noticing your blank expression of confusion, she elaborates.
"Basically, I'm responsible for preserving the history of humanity. I'm also in charge of journaling the mission logs and project details."
You nod, impressed by her role. "Where do you keep the history logs?" you ask, genuinely curious.
"We do have a study onboard, but most of it is stored in the ship's computer or in my head," she explains.
"Wow, you must have a remarkable memory," you comment, genuinely impressed.
She blushes slightly. "Thanks, it's alright.."
"Tell me a little about your background," you probe gently, intrigued by her journey.
"Well, I was born in Sydney, Australia, but I moved around a lot as a kid due to my parents' work," she begins, her voice trailing off as memories flood back. "I've lived in Canada, America, South Africa, New Zealand, the UK, Italy, India, China, Greece, Peru..." she lists before catching herself.
"That sounds like quite the adventure," you remark, marveling at her experiences.
She shrugs. "It had its ups and downs, but I couldn't really make friends because of it. Well, I did have this one friend..." she trails off, her gaze lingering on you for a moment before refocusing. "Um, yeah, I've been around a lot."
"I see," you respond sympathetically, sensing there's more to her story.
"I went to Harvard University, and after graduating, I taught there for about 10 years," she continues, her tone matter-of-fact.
"Wait, 10 YEARS?" you exclaim, taken aback. "How old are you?"
"I'm 25," she responds calmly.
You pause, trying to process the information. Graduating from Harvard before the age of 15 was an incredible feat. Just how smart was this woman?
Setting aside your astonishment you decide to continue with your questions. "What do you do for fun?" you ask.
She ponders for a moment before replying, "Well, I like to read, write books, listen to music, write songs, just a bunch of normal stuff."
"You write music?" you ask, impressed by her never-ending trove of talents.
"She's the best!" Isabella, the curvy Latina, interjects suddenly, her enthusiasm contagious. "Sammy can play every instrument and has the voice of an angel! She writes me songs all the time~" she adds, her admiration evident.
Samantha blushes in response.
"Wow," you respond, genuinely impressed by her versatility. "Do you rap?" you tease, trying to lighten the mood.
She chuckles. "I mean, I can," she admits modestly.
"She's being modest," Aneni, the tall ebony beauty, chimes in with an amused grin. "She rapped Eminem's Rap God flawlessly for me the other day." Samantha grins sheepishly at her compliment.
You take a moment to absorb everything you've learned about Samantha. It's clear there's much more to her than meets the eye. Finally, you decide to ask, "Um, so you're a virgin? May I ask why?"
She blushes, her demeanor shifting slightly. "Just haven't met the right guy, I guess... and I haven't been approached by many guys," she admits.
"I understand," you respond sympathetically, sensing her vulnerability. Admittedly, it made sense. You could see how most guys might feel inferior around her given her vastly superior intellect. However, you found yourself enthralled by it, unaffected by any sense of inadequacy. Despite her appearance of an everyday girl next door, she was undeniably one of a kind.
"Thank you for sharing, Sam," you add, acknowledging her openness.
She nods in response, and you turn your attention back to the group, eager to learn more about each of them.
Who do you talk to next?
