I was watching TV when an exhausted Sam came through the door and put her keys on the counter. She sat on the couch and laid her head in my lap. I smiled and said, “Based upon your exhaustion, I can assume everything went better than expected.”

Sam chuckled and said, “That’s the understatement of the century right there. Jennifer is…holy shit, babe…fucking insane but in a good way. Any plans I made were turned upside down and stakes were doubled by her choice not my own. I really wish you could have been there but I’ll tell you everything. Jennifer said that you can come next time as well. Three would definitely be more interesting.”

I turned off the television and looked down at my wife’s flushed face. I said, “You have my undivided attention, Sam. Let’s start from the beginning.”

A younger man no more than 20 was up early doing yard work as Sam told him, “Good morning! Beautiful day so far but I gotta go meet your neighbor. Jennifer laughed and said, “It did feel really nice and please call me Jen. I would prefer to just be Jen with you. Jennifer was so boring and such a stick in the mud about everything.”

Sam smiled and asked, “Can you take off your shirt, Jen?”

Sam said, “Close your eyes and deep breathes, my friend. You are only naked and I am naked with you.” Jen closed her eyes and did exactly as she was instructed. Sam could feel the nerves being released as well as her grip loosening. “Very good, Jen. You should be proud of yourself. Even if I took off your shirt, you ultimately let me do it.”

Jen smiled and was losing the flush in her face. “It really is all thanks to your help and guidance. I want to do something different with my life. Seeing you and Jaime yesterday just made me feel like this is what I’ve been missing.”

Sam smiled and asked, “Well, just know that we are hear to support you every step of the way. Joseph is supportive too with everything he said last night.”

Jen nodded and said, “Joseph told me that he just wants me to be happy before he left. He trust that you and Jaime helped me rediscover myself for the first time. I’m ready to make this real.”
