Chapter 8 by SingingLark SingingLark

What will the tyrannical Duke armed with such knowledge? Is Farthof really Loyal?

Sacrifice the undead horde, while Farthof rejoins the Duke

It came as no surprise that Alorric would place no higher value on his undead forces than he did on his mortal ones. "Can it be done again?" was his real question. But for now, there was need for a battle, and to flip sides would be too complicated. He ordered the attack.

Biel was magnificent in battle. The elven rider became the leader of Farthof´s undead forces, her unnatural carving yearning for live flesh. Her wail called back the fallen in battle, and if at first her numbers were fewer, well there was no way to control the tides of battle.

Farthof never saw where the bolt came from; all that he saw was his beautiful unholy daugher fall from her horse, her heart forever still, her existance undone by a trivial weapon.

Without her, or your command, the tide of battle shifts quickly. The horde became a disorganized mob, prone to indulge in inhuman desires rather than kill more enemies. With the eyes of a painter **** to burn his masterpiece, Farthorf abandons the field.

The elves were taken by the subterfuge, and grateful to the heroic humans that saved them from the terrible cavalry horde. For the young Dove to triumph over an undead elven banshee was a fortunate event, an additional stanza for the elves to sing.

Under the moonlight, waiting to be located, the necromancer tells his prisioner "we must part now, princess. Be grateful I will only rob you of your memories, not your life." To his surpise, this caused the princes great alarm.

"part?" her melodical voice says in the human tongue "please, please no" she pleas. When he doesnt appear to waver, she actually grovels at his feet.

"Can you understand me?" she nods "I will not kill you" but her eyes water. Her words sing a beautiful phrase, but the meaning eludes the necromancer

"Joined under the moonlight" she translates into the common tongue. "all i have left" It was strange, but the human couldnt see any duplicity in her eyes. He also didnt have any more time, he heard scouts cry "two survivors here!"

Into the king´s court.
