Sabrina

Coming through the doors separating the elevator and Chloé's little-room was a familiar red-head with glasses.

"Chloé!"

Sabrina went straight for the little in the jumper. She grabbed Chloé's face and gave her a protracted kiss on the cheek. The pacifier dropped out of Chloé's mouth as she gave a childish giggle, Sabrina smelling the formula on her breath.

"Did someone miss me?"

"Saba-ba-ba."

"That's right, it's Sabrina!"

With a bit of effort, Sabrina helped Chloé out of the jumper one foot at a time. When Sabrina walked to the nearby rocking chair, Chloé ignored all of the toys on the ground and followed her. Sabrina helped the girl onto her lap as Chloé wrapped her arms around her friend and buried her head in the nape of Sabrina's neck, cooing. Sabrina patted her back as she grew comfortable with her friend's padded bottom on her legs.

When Chloé was diagnosed, Sabrina was one of the first to know. When she offered her help, Chloé stubbornly refused it and told her to get out. When Chloé started slipping into her headspace, Sabrina would show up anyway. This led to Sabrina seeing a totally different side of her (only) friend.

Regular Chloé was bossy, loud and demanding. Baby Chloé was cute, cuddly and ironically didn't whine as much. Sure Baby Chloé would burst into tears sometimes, but she wasn't a fussy baby. In fact, Chloé seemed happier as a baby than when she was a teenager. When she was upset, she accepted hugs from her best friend. When Sabrina tried to make her laugh, she actually laughed. Sabrina secretly hated listening to XY, and while Regular Chloé loved him, Baby Chloé would start crying whenever she played him for her.

She felt guilty thinking it, but sometimes she preferred Chloé as a baby.

When she came out of her headspace, Chloé only had a vague recollection of what happened when she was a baby and refused to talk about it out of personal shame. Sabrina valued the time she spent with Baby Chloé, so she kept the cute little anecdotes and the pictures she took to herself.

Sabrina may be a doormat, but she wasn't an idiot.
