SSTGG Postgame Chat (Spoilers)

It isn’t quite over yet; it probably has several chapters left in the epilogue, but if we do feedback and prizes now, that makes it easier to have the next SSS ready promptly after SSTGG ends. (If people want more SSS). All feedback is welcome, and this page is the best place to do it.

For me, SSTGG felt pretty smooth, and I think the SSS formula is evolving in a good direction, but I’ve identified what I think are some weaknesses. The main one is that with voting-style decisions, doing something like introducing two main love interests (Athena and Colby) inevitably leads to a split and failure to commit to either. This is not the fault of the readers, it’s a game design problem. If this were a single-player experience, that type of thing would be fine.

As it is, it’s flawed. That’s something I’ll keep in mind in future stories, although I don’t have a perfect solution for it at the moment. Ironically, in SSTGG, this led to the most realistic outcome: the push-pull of exciting circumstances keeping Meri from fully committing. She couldn’t distance herself from Colby, and she couldn’t fully establish boundaries with the sorority. That’s pretty authentic; obligations and feelings are complicated.

On points and prizes: the model that was used in SSTGG for scoring mainly rewarded readers who voted often. The more you voted, the more likely you were to hit one of the occasional choices that were worth 2 or 3 points. I’m open to suggestions on how to improve this, but I’m not too bothered by it at this point. We had a cluster of readers who were 2-3 points apart at the top and a handful of readers who just didn’t vote very much, so they had lower scores understandably. There was one grand prize winner in the top spot winning by 1 point. Occasional voting is still valid and important! Points are not as important as steering the story; maybe the one time you vote tips a vote that keeps someone alive or changes their life.

Everyone in that top cluster will win the small prize, which is either of the following 2 things:

A nomination “Do a Batgirl story! Do a fantasy story! Maybe a future SSS story should have XYZ in it…” I’ll take those nominations seriously in the planning stage, but be aware that overall due to work and life I’m slowing down somewhat. (Not stopping). But a few months ago, if you’d nominated a Batgirl story, you’d have had a Batgirl story starting a couple weeks later. Now everything is a maybe and it could be months away. If there’s something you’re just dying to see, I can probably figure out a way to do commissions or something.

Or you can choose a timeline peek, pick a chapter, and I’ll add the chapter for the choice that was not made in SSTGG, which will include a sentence or two at the end about where that thread would’ve taken us. (These chapters aren’t usually very long, and NO you can’t use this to try to pump up Meri’s O-numbers. Non-canonical orgasms don’t count!)

The Grand Prize will be a VFU short story of the reader’s choosing. Characters, pairings, kinks*—whatever you want from the VFU is fine, it doesn’t have to be canonical, and I’ll deliver it within a week or two (it’ll be publicly posted to whatever story it goes with). The Grand Prize winner can also, if they choose, become an honorary member of CCL (By being added to a page that says ‘CCL Roster’ and commemorates their win.) Or they can stay anonymous. Nothing is a big deal here. Winners will get PMs today.

The Meri’s O-Count competition doesn’t end until the epilogue does. That winner will receive the same Grand Prize as the point leader.
