Chapter 7
by TheArchitect
Uh oh.
Run from it.
The heat, the burning core of Inga's destructive spree, suddenly took a dive, leaving confused coldness in its stead. From below her shoulders, the ball of heat was spread thin towards her limbs, with most being lost along the way. Whatever was fueling her actions to this point was now gone in the face of danger.
Bewildered and terrified, Inga looked at the closed doors until the fear of whatever was going on so loudly behind them overwhelmed her. She ran to the side, away from her legacy, finding intact tiles to be more convenient to step on rather than broken ones.
The girl heard the closet doors open violently and turned around to see. A puddle of some kind of black sludge was lying on the floor safe distance from her, but not for long. Soon, it started moving, taking shape. Was this closet sentient, giving this thing commands, or was it merely a security protocol?
Anyway, it did not look threatening, so Inga moved closer to witness the transformation continue. Her soles were burning from the cold of the white tiles, but she owed herself that much. This was the result of her troublesome behavior, writhing before her.
It was no longer a liquid, but a shiny black suit of rubber. Should she be wearing it, it would have spread her limbs by ****, deprived her of her eyesight, hearing and speech. It would contain her for her crimes against property.
Suddenly, with a series of pops, the suit burst at the seams. It was wearable now. This was what she deserved, right?
Inga's mouth gaped open and she stepped back. She was supposed to be absorbed and punished by it, and she still had the choice of incapacitating herself in this smooth, encompassing, warm suit. Why would anyone make it, even if out of guilt? Why would anyone not go anywhere else, do anything else? If inside, you would not be able to do anything, fully at the mercy of whoever found you first? Why would you?
There is not that much room for doubt here? Why. Would you. Keep. Asking yourself more of these questions with "easy" answers? Just confess to yourself that you are actually considering it! Because that would make sense to be the resolution to your actions and you will not need to take one more step on this painful, freezing floor. An easy way to end your own story.
Inga is standing on the open suit. It's warmer than standing somewhere else.
