Chapter 4 by zewesman zewesman

"First, it shall be Rissa against Rusel," ordered the Overseer.

Rissa's Skills

“With your skills with a blade, and your skills with your knowledge tested, there is but one left before we can begin your training,” announced Overseer Harkun. He and the acolytes had made their way to another training area, strong in the Dark Side of the Force. “We shall now test your skills with the Force itself. I shall test your abilities of Control, Sense, and Alter of using the Force. What falls under the Control aspect, Rissa?” asked the Overseer.

“Ah, that is the aspect of the Force that focuses on bettering our physical abilities,” answered Rissa. Overseer Harkun nodded in acceptance at her sufficient answer.

“That is correct. So, let me see which of you can enhance your body using the Force!” commanded Overseer Harkun. “We shall start with the ladies. Rissa, since you answered correctly, you may go first,” ordered the leader of the group.

“As you wish, my lord,” she said as she did a quick bow and made her way to the center of the group. Rissa closed her eyes and opened herself to the Force. She felt the power flow through her, power she could use to show her allies and enemies she is one to be respected and feared.

“Let us start easy, enhance your speed and strength and quickly strike that boulder!” ordered the elder Sith. Rissa wasted no time in channeling the force into her legs to move faster than normal while at the same time she focused the Force into her arms and vibroblade and swung at the giant piece of stone. The vibroblade made an antagonizing noise as it’s powered blade struck the rock, a wide gash snaked out from where it struck. A disappointed look appeared on Rissa’s face as she did not break the stone as she had hoped. Tch. My saber skills are nowhere near as good as I had hoped. Rissa thought to herself as she made her way back to the center of the circle.

“Hmm. Your control of the Force to enhance your speed and strength is impressive. I did not expect you to be able to cause this much damage to the boulder,” observed Harkun as he hand made its way across the damaged face of the rock. “I could sense your physical weakness but the amount of control you showed to cause this much damage should be applauded. Although, I’m sure Wes or Rusel could do this on their own without any enhancements,” concluded Overseer Harkun, much to Rissa’s dismay. Harkun saw her disappointed on her face and smiled. “Yes. Be angry with yourself. Let that rage at your own weakness fuel you. Become stronger!” suggested the Sith Lord. “Now, deal with this!” he said as he quickly threw a vial at the young human girl. A green mist left the bottle as it spun through the air and landed at her feet.

Rissa immediately started to cough before she realized that the cloud around her was poison. Instead of panicking as a non-Force user would, Rissa calmed her mind and used her Breath Control technique to stop breathing as she used the Force to contain the poison and move it away from herself.

“Good, good. Breath Control technique combined with a simple use of the Force to move the poison away. Smart girl, smart. Now, have you any particular abilities we should know about?” asked the impressed Overseer.

“Well, I do have a move or two you might find interesting,” said the young lady as she disappeared before Harkun and acolytes very eyes. They all looked around unable to see her anywhere, while their use of the Force to sense her resulted in nothing.

“Ah hahaha. Excellent! Force Cloak and Force Concealment! You have the makings of an assassin, girl! We could always use more assassins,” a proud Harkun declared. “If that is all, young lady, you can… ARGH!” Overseer Harkun was interrupted as Rissa reappeared behind him with a stream of electricity arced from her fingertips straight into his back.

“Now, I’m done!” a smug Rissa declared as she stopped her attack and began to make her way to the circle boundaries. As she was halfway there, she felt a tight grip around her neck as oxygen no longer made its way down her throat and to her mouth. Her feet dangled in the air as she slowly rose from the ground until she floated a few feet off the red crust of Korriban.

“Insolent girl! You dare attack me like that!” yelled Harkun, anger and rage clear in his voice. “I’ll show you what happens to those that cross me!” he said as he summoned his lightsaber from his belt and into his free hand. He ignited the blade and swung it at the girl’s torso, only for his blade to bounce off a vibrosword just inches from Rissa’s body.

Harkun’s eyes darted to the weapon as it spun back to its owner's hand, which happened to be Wes’. Harkun’s eyes showed nothing but anger in them as he dropped the girl. Rissa fell to the ground and coughed and gasped for the precious air that her lungs were desperate for.

“You DARE interrupt my punishment, boy?!” screamed Overseer Harkun.

“You asked her what she could do, and so she showed you. Hell, I’m impressed she had the fortitude to even attack you,” he told his temporary master. Harkun’s hand dug deep into his lightsaber’s grip as he contemplated what to do. Both of them belong to powerful houses. It was probably best he stopped me. Her father could easily have me killed for striking down his eldest daughter. I just cannot let this insolent cur get away with defying me. Ah, I have an idea. Harkun smiled as an idea formed in his head.

“Very well, young one. I will leave her be. Instead, you must duel me,” he said as he put his lightsaber away. “Don’t worry, I won’t kill you,” he said as a smile formed across his face. He lifted his hand up towards the now recovering Rissa and Tamil as Rissa’s vibroblade flew from near her and into Harkun’s hand. “This will ensure that you won’t be killed, but will learn your place,” snarled the cruel Overseer.

“If that is what you wish, Overseer. Than that is what we shall do,” replied the young Sith acolyte. Wes knew that not only Overseer Harkun was more experienced in combat than he was, but he had an advantage with using Rissa’s double-bladed vibrosword. As his eyes quickly scanned the area to find a way to help in his fight, he got an idea. Before the two started, Wes stretched out his hand and summoned the vibrosword clutched in Tamil’s hands. The girl, at first, resisted Wes’ pulls before eventually relenting and allowed him to use her weapon. Wes readied himself in the basic stances of Form VII, commonly known as Juyo.

"You think you know the Juyo form, child? I'll show you a true master's use of it!" barked Harkun.
