Chapter 24
by Daylan
Risk It?
Risk It
Vicki looks you in the eyes again and you sense this is your chance, slowly moving your magic containing foot forward and placing it down as far as the barrier holding you will let you. You feel the energies in your foot spreading out, mingling with the circle and converging around the one odd symbol. Again, you find yourself uncertain how you know all of this but something inside of you is certain that your next move is to pull, ever so slightly, on that magic energy. As you do so, out of the corner of your eye, you see that one odd symbol starting to stretch and distort like it was made of taffy. You momentarily wonder if you can pull it until it breaks but your instincts tell you to stop at a certain point, having transformed the symbol into a whole new shape.
You do not know what will happen next but now you have **** but to find out when Vicki asks her next question.
"Is she ever changed her mind," Vicki asks, "And told you she wanted to get into a more serious relationship with someone else so she did not want to screw around with you anymore, would you accept that?"
You blink in surprise. You had an answer for that question, of course, but at the same time you were wondering if there was something to your earlier suspicions about the two girls behavior around each other earlier. "Yes," you say before you find yourself reflexively asking, "Why? Because you want to be the one fucking her?"
Vicki's eyes widen in surprise and she starts to ask something that sounds like, "How did y--"
Suddenly, the chairs that make the Truth Binding's circle spread out, the magic energies of the circle itself spreading as well. Vicki gasps as the magic binding is now large enough that she is in the middle of it too and she suddenly clamps her lips shut, glaring at you intently even as a blush forms on her cheeks. "What happened?!" you ask frantically.
Vicki just keeps glaring at you, lips trembling as if fighting to keep them shut. "C'mon," you growl, "this is your magic so tell me what's happening!"
The black and purple haired girl lowers her arms to her side, looking away from you as her face turns even redder and she blurts out, "Yes! I do want to be the one fucking Amelia!"
You are startled enough by her shout that you jump back a step, the widening of the circle giving you a little more room to move in and the way her shout echoes around you confirming it is still keeping the sounds within it contained. Vicki is still beet red as she looks at you again. "I had to answer that first," she says, "if I said or tried to do anything that wasn't deciding to answer the first question you asked or not, the magic would have counted that as a lie or a refusal to answer."
Taking a deep breath, Vicki looks down and around at the circle as you feel a slight bit of satisfaction at having guessed right to her intentions. Eventually, Vicki spots the symbol your magic has messed with and says, "I don't know how you did it but you've changed the language. Now the magic here applies to the both of us and won't break until one of us gives up. Which means we have to take turns answering questions."
You cannot help but smirk a little as you reply, "So that Truth or Dare game isn't so one-sided anymore."
Vicki winces but nods as she adds, "Yeah and the penalty for 'Dare', having to follow a... command from the other person, will still apply to whoever chooses it."
A lump grows in your throat as you realize it is your turn to answer, the stakes have been raised and you cannot help but notice at the way she hesitated before saying "command" now that whatever that would be potentially applied to her too. Vicki looks up at you again, and she seems almost panicked. "Would you be willing to just give up?" she asks, "I just wanted to make sure you weren't going to hurt Amelia or maybe scare you off from getting too close but this could get dangerous if we keep going! I... I promise I won't make you do anything too bad."
You purse your lips. In her panic, Vicki does not seem to realize that she has already taken her turn to ask you that first question. Of course, your answer is important, both as the truth and if you want to follow what she says. On one hand, what she is saying is true and it does seem her intentions were harmless enough. You have no reason to believe that she just wanted anything more than some simple answers and did not intend for things to go this far. She does seem to care about Amelia a lot and maybe her concern caused a bit of an overreaction but that does not necessarily mean she deserves to pay for it.
On the other, the more time you have had to stew on this, the more you are feeling a little insulted. She tricked you into a magic circle, tried to play high and mighty over you and you get the feeling she still isn't telling you everything about what could happen should you decide to choose 'Dare' as it were. You have already taken things this far with your attempt to escape, so why not see if you can get her to pay for her actions?
The two emotions war inside of you and you open your mouth to answer, deciding which one will dictate your actions.
And That Answer Is...
