Chapter 7 by Meaniehead Meaniehead

The Draw Ends

Rhett Concludes the Session

Rhett claps twice, fast and loud, commanding the room’s attention like he’s sealing a deal.

“Alright, that’s Week One’s draw locked in. You’ve got your girls. You’ve got your challenges. Now comes the fun part—one week to make it happen. No extensions. No do-overs. Score big, or go home with empty hands and an even emptier ego.”

He grins and adds:

“Day One starts tomorrow. So get your scouting in, say your prayers, and remember—every second you waste tonight, someone else is already making their move.”

The crowd laughs, and just like that, the lights shift, the screen powers down, and the tension breaks into motion. Players stand, stretch, talk. Some look excited. Some look panicked. You?

You slip out of your chair with your tablet clutched in one hand and a growing knot of purpose in your stomach.

You don’t even know where to begin.

You need to meet her. Kailani. In real life. Not as a stat sheet or a JPEG, but as a person. Because if this is going to work—if you’re going to pull off anything more than a humiliating zero—you need more than a challenge card and a prayer.

First move? Find her. Maybe check the rugby schedule. Look up her student orgs. Search social media, maybe—though that feels a little stalkerish. Or maybe just find a mutual acquaintance. Someone in her major? Or hell, maybe you just show up at the gym and see if fate throws you into a squat rack next to her.

You’ve got a night to get ready.

Because tomorrow?

The game begins for real.

What Do You Do On Day 1?
