Returns to a bizarre sight

Avery couldn’t get Margaret out of her head as she drove home. She wondered if maybe she should have done something more. She pulled into the driveway and made her way to the door. She twisted it open. She was taken aback but what she saw. Alexa was on top of Michelle wearing a dog collar and appeared to be humping her leg while Cynthia was on the ground in a diaper sucking a pacifier and crawling on the floor.

Avery blinked, but remained silent as she watched, sitting down on the chair to watch. “Stop it, Lexi,” Michelle said sternly. “Bad dog!”

Alexa simply lunged forward and licked Michelle’s face. “Bark.”

“Agh! Not again,” Michelle said.

Alexa giggled. “Bark bark bark.”

Michelle rolled her eyes. “Now Cynthie… do you need a change?” Michelle asked as she patted Cynthia’s diaper.

Cynthia turned pink as she shook her head. “Uh uh.”

“Liar,” Michelle said. “Or maybe you just don’t know.”

“Bark bark!” Alexa responded, and then bent down to sniff Michelle’s butt.

“Lexi! Too far!” Michelle yelled as she felt Alexa’s nose on her butt.

“Bark!” Alexa said.

“Don’t sniff my butt,” Michelle said.

“Bark bark,” Alexa responded.

“Hush,” Michelle said. “Now, Cynthie. I need to change you. But first, how about I get you some milk.”

Cynthia blushed and nodded. It was at that moment Avery decided to make her presence known as she cleared her throat. The three girls turned to see Avery sitting there, watching. All three blushed. Alexa decided to stay in character as she approached Avery and licked her hand. “Bark bark bark.”

“Having fun?” Avery laughed as she ‘pet’ Alexa.

“We were just playing house,” Michelle said. “Lexi took it a bit serious.”

“Is that so?” Avery said, smiling as she tickled Alexa’s sides. “So how do I get my Alexa back now?”

“I guess she’s just going to be dog from now on,” Michelle said.

Cynthia pulled her pacifier out of her mouth. “How did things go?” Cynthia asked. “With Margaret?”

Avery sighed. “I got your things,” Avery said. “And made it clear that you weren’t coming back. And that if she ever approached you again, she would answer to me.”

“Wow,” Cynthia said, eyes watering just a bit as she wrapped her arms around Avery. “Thank you so much.”

Avery smiled as she embraced Cynthia. “That’s why Avery is the best,” Alexa said, finally speaking up as she joined in the hug.

Avery felt tears forming as Michelle also joined the group hug. Avery smiled as she held the embrace for a few minutes, letting it settle as she said. “I promise to do everything within my power to protect all of you. If you ever need me. No matter what happens.”

“You’re the best, Avery,” Alexa whispered.

The others sounded their agreement. “Now I think some of you need a bath and a changed diaper,” Avery said. “Let’s go upstairs and do that. We can use the big tub.”

The girls nodded as they all parted from the hug and headed up the stairs.
