Returned to the real world

"Did we make it?" Ryuji gasped as he and I panted heavily, hands on our knees.

We were both stood on the sidewalk where I first met Ryuji.

[You have returned to the real world. Welcome back.]

"What the...? That came from my phone," I said as I pulled out my smartphone, staring at it curiously as I tried to figure out why a female voice suddenly came out of it.

"Huh? Returned?" Ryuji repeated with his arms crossed, also trying to figure out what was happening. "Does that mean we got away?"

"Probably," I sighed as I pocketed my phone, wanting desperately for the day to be over.

"I dunno what to think anymore," Ryuji agreed while scratching his head in frustration as I turned to the alleyway we walked through to get to the castle. "What was all that, anyways? That castle and Kamoshida and that weird cat!? The hell's going on!?"

"What's with the yelling? Are you students of Shujin?" a stern male voice called out to us.

We both flinched as we saw a pair of police officers approached us. Me and Ryuji were wearing school uniforms and were most likely very late for school.

"Yeah, that figures," I muttered under my breath.

"Cutting classes, are we?" the aggressive officer on the left questioned us.

"Huh? No!" said Ryuji, his voice high and defensive. "We were trying to get to school and we ended up at this weird castle!"

I looked at him in disbelief. Is he serious, right now? I just wanted him to be quite.

"What?" the aggressive officer sighed after hearing such a ridiculous tale. "Hand over your bag. You better not be doing any ****."

"Why would you think that!?"

"Are you his friend?" asked the second police officer.

"He was bullying me." I said.

"Don't lie like that!" said Ryuji. "Tell 'em what happened! Like I'm trying to say, I don't know what's going on either!"

"We passed by Shujin on the way here," said the first officer. "There was nothing out of the ordinary about it. If you sprout any more nonsense, I'll contact your school. Is that what you want?"

"C'mon, say something!"

"I don't want to be late." I said.

"Uh, that's not what I meant."

"Let's go before we get in more trouble," I walked off.

"Wait a sec!" said Ryuji. "Is that guy for real? Fine, I'm going!"
