The corridor (and probably the rest of the school) was filled with rapists and I was not prepared enough to face them. I turned back to my room and closed the door behind me. I bypassed the collapsed guy with caution, ready to beat him up again if he dared to get up, trembling just thinking about what he would have done to me if I had not been cautious.

That last thought made me realize how bad the situation was. I had to get out of this crazy place. But it would not be easy with all the zombies on the way. It was important to be sure I had everything I needed to survive with me. I could not wander around with so little equipment and food. I surveyed the room and smiled when I found what I was looking for. I unplugged the bedside lamp and took it in my hand, checking its balance. I had a weapon.

I put on my trainers. Then, while regularly checking on the zombie lying on the floor, I packed my rucksack with a flashlight, some spare garment, a towel (always bring a towel), some more junk food, a bottle of water, my cellphone (even though it showed no signal) and some cash. That would be enough. I just hoped I would not have to stay too long, otherwise I would soon run out of food.

Speaking of which, I had not eaten this morning and my belly was starting to gurgle. I ate the energetic bar. Much better. I was now ready to leave. The only thing left to decide was my destination. The girl I had failed to save had talked about the roof. Maybe I could find allies there who could help me get out of here, or at least understand what happened. Or maybe I could just go straight to the exit, hoping I could get through by myself...
