Relaxing at the village
Like the other village, they concluded their bargaining quickly and traded well. One item they received was an artifact from before the world died: a solar flashlight. The villagers fed them a good meal of bread and venison stew. Eating together was a good way to socialize. They laughed, joked, drank a little wine, flirted, told stories, and delivered news. The news that bandits hit Mira's village was taken hard.
Torg flirted with a local woman he knew named Sonja.
Mira watched Torg interact with Sonja, a tight knot forming in her stomach. She sipped her drink, her eyes narrowed slightly as she observed the flirting. Lena nudged Rina, whispering loudly enough for Mira to hear. "Look at him! Torg's a real smooth talker, huh?" Rina kept her gaze on her bowl, though she sensed the tension radiating from Mira.
Sonja flirted back. Torg smiled at her and looked her up and down. She grinned, getting a lusty look in her eye. He drank some more wine.
Mira felt a sharp prickle of heat beneath her skin as Sonja’s hungry gaze lingered on Torg. She set her cup down with a deliberate clatter, her knuckles whitening around the rim. Lena giggled behind her hand, sensing the shift in the air. "Whoa, did you see that look? She’s jealous!" Rina glanced at Mira, then back to the table, her jaw tightening.
Torg laughed softly and sipped his wine again before excusing himself to head toward the outhouse. Sonja turned and began chatting with another local man.
