Relax in the park

You think relaxing where you are might be the best thing to do, right now you're pretty annoyed so taking in the fresh air should calm you down.

You rub your temples before sitting up, it is quite quiet, probably because it is on the edge of town, but it makes a peaceful place to think to yourself when something annoys you, usually it's something Chad has done.

I'll probably only stay here for another hour. I'm feeling a little better now. You lean your head back and close your eyes taking a deep breath and you just stay like that for a couple minutes "John... I erm... I'm sorry I'm late... Is that for me?" You recognize that soft nervous voice immediately, your eyes shoot open and you see Alexandra, she looks amazing, she's cut her long brown hair into a layered bob, she is wearing a red summer dress with polka dots and a black belt around her waist, she has a thin white cardigan, and it looks like she's had her makeup done. You see, she is pointing at the rose you tossed on the bench: "Oh uh, yeah it was," you're confused, shocked and lost for words.

before you can say anything she shifts uncomfortably "So I guess I owe you an explanation... I umm... After you left I met ruby and we started talking, we became friends pretty quickly and I told her that we had a date and how nervous I was about it and then she suggested that we go to the mall so I could get some new clothes and a makeover and I guess it took a little longer than I expected and when we got back you'd already left and I didn't have any way to contact you and and t-then Ruby said that she might and called your housemate and he said you'd be here and you are and that's what happened and I'm really sorry and I should have left you a note or something"

"Wow, that was an ear full, I'm not sure you could have said 'and' any more in that sentence if you tried," you laugh a little. Now I feel kind of stupid for getting worked up about this. You pick up the rose, stand up and hand it to her. "You look stunning by the way, I love what you did with your hair."

She blushes with a smile "Thank you" her face lights up a little like she just remembered something "I need to go tell Ruby that I found you and thank her for everything, come with me," she grabs your hand and pulls you along with her, you don't go far before Alexandra lets go of your hand and takes off running towards a blond girl who is looking the other way.

"RUBY!" Alexandra shouts, the blond turns around and you recognize her, she actually went to high school with you and dated Chad for like 2 days before realizing the mistake she made.

"Oh there you are Lexi, I see you found John" she looks at you smiles and waves as you finally catch up to Alexandra.

"Lexi?" You say looking at Alexandra

"Anyway, do you always just run off if someone is slightly late for a date? I mean, we were only 15 minutes late and you'd already left, it's a good job I knew who you were and still had Chad's phone number" Ruby says clearly pissed.

"Ruby! I-it's fine, we found him and it didn't take that long so we can still go on our date... T-that is if you still want to go on a date with me?" She blushes and looks at her feet.

"Of course he still wants to go on a date with you, I'm still not sure how he managed to convince you to go on a date with him in the first place, oh I should probably leave you two, I'm sure you want to go on your date without a third wheel, see you later" before either of you have a chance to say goodbye, she's already gone.

"So erm... Lexi, eh?" You say quite awkwardly.

"uhh, yeah that's what Ruby's started calling me," she says back more awkwardly.

"I don't think it suits you... Alexa is way more fitting, it's cute just like you" you say trying to shake off your awkwardness.

"Oh... uhh y-you can call me Alexa if you want" her blush comes back with a vengeance.

"Okay then Alexa, let's go on our date, but I think I might have a better idea for where we should go," you take hold of her hand and lead her back to your car before setting off.
