What are you going to tell Mom, and how?
Relax and enjoy being Holy Stella, Mother of God
You hear the front door open and slam shut, your mother yelling, "Kids! I'm home," and her footsteps running up the stairs.
"Are you both packed? I'll just throw a few..." she stops when she sees you both in Abbie's room. "I told you to pack. Why are you just standing around? Is that iced tea?" she sounds frantic.
"Calm down, Mom," you say, trying to have a soothing tone. At the same time, you tone down the adrenaline in her bloodstream. You can see her breathing slow.

"You don't understand. I never told you about your father. He could do real magic. And he was a major jerk. I think something stopped him from doing anything to me when he left. But whatever it was that protected me might not stand up against him anymore if he's doing all the things people are saying. We aren't safe. I don't know if we can hide, but we have to try. Get packed fast, or you're leaving with nothing," she says. She grabs your arm and tugs you towards your room. "You too, Abbie. Move it."
You pull back against her. "You don't have to worry about your asshole ex having ultimate power. It wasn't him. It was me," you say softly. You change your face to match the one you projected from the sky.
Your mother lets go of you and staggers back. "What?" she gasps. "How?" She leans against the door frame to keep on her feet.
"We... " you start, then you change your mind about including Abbie in the explanation. You change your face back to your own. It'll be less of a shock for your mom. "Well, I tried a magic spell I found on a website. It went wrong. Um, not exactly wrong, I suppose, but it wasn't supposed to do this."
"Magic? David, why would you mess with magic. It's dangerous and corrupting," your mother chides you.
"Mom, you really shouldn't be angry at Dave," Abbie chimes in. "It all worked out for the best. He's fixing the world." She steps closer to your mother. "Besides, he's god now. So, you really should be nice to him," she says in a low voice.
"God? What are you talking about?" Mom looks at her, confused and anxious.
"I can do anything now, Mom. Make anything I want happen with just a thought," you say.
Her face goes ashen. "David... no. You can't. You shouldn't. no one should have that power," she says in a horrified whisper.
"Seriously Mom?" Abbie interjects. "Can you think of anyone better to have that power? You know Dave's a good guy, and you're the literal mother of god now. That's got to be good."
Your mom shakes her head. If you hadn't tamped down her adrenaline response, you think she may have gone into shock. You look into her mind.
"Mom has a huge aversion to magic based on our dad screwing her over and abandoning her with us, and some kind of mystic protection that caused a mental block about it," you explain to Abbie as you remove those aspects without making any major changes to her personality. You can see her expression lighten visibly. "Feel better, Mom?"
"A little," she nods. "I'm still sure this is not a good thing, Dave. Isn't there some way you can, I don't know, give the power back, abdicate? It's bound to change you. I want you to have a normal, happy life, Honey."
Abbie scowls, "Dave just ended **** and disease worldwide. I don't know if anyone was running the world before now, but in just a few minutes Dave showed he's better at it. Why would you want him to be normal after that? He's amazing. Fucking godly!"
You put a hand on Abbie's arm. "It's ok, Abs. It's a lot to take in. I didn't expect Mom to be on board right off the bat." You turn to your mother. "I think I can make things better for everyone. Shouldn't I at least try?"
"I know you're a good boy, Davey," your mother says. "But I'm afraid I'll lose you. You'll be corrupted by this power. I saw magic corrupt your father, and this is even more power. You won't be you anymore." she's almost sobbing.
"I still feel like me, Mom. Since I can do anything, I'm sure I can give up the power if I decide to. Why don't you give it a few days, and then let me know if you think it's going to my head, and you're losing the real me? OK?" You consider sending a wave of calm emotion over her, but it feels like that would be the wrong way to show that you can use your power responsibly.
Your mom sighs. "Well, it's not like I could make you give them up if you don't want to. At least you're willing to listen to my opinion. That's a plus in a god, I suppose."
"You'll see, Mom. It'll be great," Abbie assures her. She turns to you. "Oh, one thing you could do that should make Mom happy. Take away our father's ability to do magic. In fact, stop anyone besides you from doing magic, ever again."
"All magic?" you ask, surprised. You know that having magic power was thrilling for Abbie.
She nods. "You got this power through magic. We don't know if someone else, with bad intentions, could, too. Or if someone could use magic to take it away from you. It's safer if no one else has it."
Your mother looks conflicted. "I think Abbie's right. No one should have magic. But, it's also a dangerous idea. If you are the single, absolute power in the world, you'll be that much closer to being absolutely corrupted."
Do you abolish magic from the world?
