Reject Avery
You smile gently at Avery, taking her hand in yours and giving it a gentle squeeze. "I appreciate the offer, Avery, but I can't," you say softly, looking into her eyes.
Avery looks disappointed but understanding. "I understand," she says softly, giving your hand a gentle squeeze in return. "I just wanted to offer. You're a really great guy, Alex, and I thought we could have some fun."
You smile at her, grateful for her understanding. "I appreciate it, Avery, really," you say. "But I'm just not in that place right now. I'm dealing with a lot of complicated feelings."
Avery nods, a small smile on her face. "I understand," she says again. "Just know that I'm here for you if you ever need someone to talk to, or someone to have some fun with."
You smile back at her, feeling a weight lift from your shoulders. "Thank you, Avery," you say. "That means a lot to me."
Avery stands up from the table, smoothing down her skirt. "I should get going," she says, giving your hand a final squeeze. "But remember, I'm always here if you need me."
You watch as she walks away, feeling a mix of relief and guilt wash over you. You knew that Avery was a wonderful person, and part of you had been tempted by her offer. But you couldn't betray your feelings for Charlie and your complicated relationship with Bella.
Taking a deep breath, you finish your coffee and head back to work, your mind a jumbled mess of thoughts and emotions.
