Chapter 8
by reaper13
How does the princess react to the suggestion?
Refuse him, he told too many lies
“My apologies, sir. But I’m afraid I must be going now.”
Liandra tried to pull away from the bard, but he tightened his grip and prevented her from leaving.
“Dear princess,” The bard said. “There is no need to be afraid. I merely wish to teach you a valuable lesson.”
That was a huge lie. She could feel her ring vibrate on her finger, she had great need to be afraid.
“What I mean was … I have to … that is to say …” Liandra stammered, but she was so terrified she could barely speak.
“Unhand her!” A voice suddenly called out to them.
They turned to look where it came from and they saw a woman who was dressed in black leather armor. She looked a little too provocative in those clothes, but she also had an air pride on dignity on her. Liandra wondered who she was.
The bard apparently wished to know as well for he said “Who the hell are you.” to this stranger.
“My name is ‘Kendra the blackhand’, baronness from Nocternia and envoy to the king of Luxius.”
A Nocternian. Liandra now didn’t know who to fear most, the abusive bard or the strange Nocternian. She really was a Nocternian noble, The ring told her so.
“Go away, you filthy Nocternian.” The bard spoke, keeping Liandra close to him.
“I will,” The Nocternian said. “After you unhand her.”
“What busyness is it of you anyways?”
“My busyness is that I see a potential crime in the making and by my oath as a noblewoman, I cannot allow this to continue.”
The bard smirked. “This is Luxius, your Nocternian oaths are null and void here.”
“This particular oath targets me and me alone. Since I am a Nocternian, no matter where I travel, this oath is ever present. Should I break it, I would be a noble no more.”
Upon explaining the importance of her oath, the Nocternian cast a spell. A dark shadowy substance overwhelmed her right arm, taking the shape of a large five-fingered hand with a huge claw on each finger.
“Now, unhand her or face the consequences.”
Liandra knew the Nocternian noble was serious. The situation was getting out of hand fast.
Should she choose a side or stay out of it?
