Red is not alone

Brenan realized that he had better not get caught spying on Red. Just as he was about to step out of the tree line onto the sand a second figure stepped out of the cabin and skipped after Red. Another woman, Brenan realized he should have guessed. Red never seemed to get serious with any man, not even the ones she shared her bunk with.

The girl was pretty too Brenan noted as she caught up to Red, her blonde hair was pulled loosely over her tanned shoulder, as she turned to speak to Red he could see that her breasts were fully developed concealed only by a white cotton shirt that was tied together high on her midriff. Her waist and thighs were concealed by a loose flowing skirt but her lower legs and bare feet were shapely and tanned, and she moved with the grace of a dancer as she kicked up a spray of water and laughing jumped away before Red could retaliate.

Brenan grimaced, jealous of the couple's easy way with each other. Brenan couldn't remember a single moment when Red and he had been at ease like that. After a while he even got the impression Red started avoiding situations where they might have to spend more than a few minutes together. He remembered being grateful at the time, after nine years in the Veer army he didn't know how to talk to a woman. Most of the contact between army men and women either involved money or ****, and Brenan had seen enough of both to make him uneasy with women he liked and respected.

Picking himself up angrily from the sand he reminded himself that he was not the same man that Red trained nearly five years ago. He had become much better interacting with both men and women and even had a few people like Davy who were almost friends.

It took a minute for Red to notice him walking across the white sand. He saw her stiffen in alarm when she first saw him moving towards the two, but after a second look she seemed to recognize him and her posture became guarded, the open laughter she shared with the blonde replaced by a more reserved look.

"Hi Red" Brenan said when he got to within about five meters of the women. Red said something under her breath to her companion, and the blonde surprised both Brenan and Red by squealing in delight and exclaiming loudly.

"I told you he would come for you!" As the girl moved forwards her hands held demurely behind her back Brenan saw Red blush fiercely and step to intercept her friend.

"Hi Brenan," Red said quietly "I'd like you to meet Cindy, my..."
