Recall May and continue your journey

You pulled out May's pokeball. She started to make a noise of protest, but you recalled her into it before she could say anything. You were pretty sure you couldn't get away with taking her through town like this.

You passed back through Oldale Town, and onto Route 102. A trainer challenged you to a battle, but you had little difficulty defeating his single zigzagoon that looked like it was more interested in playing than fighting. He gave you eighty pokedollars for winning.

Getting to Petalburg City would mean going through some tall grass and almost certainly battling a wild pokemon. There were a few berry bushes along the side of the trail, and a girl who was probably just barely eighteen and old enough to get a licence was battling a bug catcher further up the route, just on this side of the tall grass.
