Rebecca's surprise quickly turned into resistance. "But I'm an adult," she protested, her voice rising slightly in desperation. "I don't need pull-ups! I'm not a bedwetter."

Nanny Malory's warm smile didn't falter. Instead, she knelt down to Rebecca's level, her eyes kind but firm. "Rebecca, you're not an adult anymore. You're a little now. The rules here are different, and we all follow them to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort."

Rebecca shook her head vehemently, backing away slightly. "I don’t need them! I’ve never wet the bed in my life!"

Nanny Malory sighed softly, standing up and folding her arms. "Sweetheart, many students say the same thing when they first arrive. But you're going through a big change, and accidents can happen to anyone." She took a step closer, her expression softening. "We just want to be prepared and make sure you’re comfortable."

Rebecca’s defiance flared up again. "I'm not wearing those," she insisted, crossing her arms over her chest. "I’m not a baby."

Nanny Malory's smile faded slightly, replaced with a look of resolve. "Rebecca, I know this is hard for you. But we need to follow the rules." She took a deep breath, her tone becoming more authoritative. "Now, let's get you ready for bed."

But Rebecca wasn’t ready to give in. "I said no!" she shouted, stamping her foot.

Nanny Malory’s eyes darkened slightly, and she took a step forward, her expression now stern. "Rebecca, this kind of behavior is not acceptable. I hoped we could do this the easy way, but it seems like you need a reminder of where you are and what the rules are."

Before Rebecca could react, Nanny Malory swiftly grabbed her arm and led her to the bed, sitting down and pulling Rebecca over her lap. Panic surged through Rebecca as she realized what was happening. "No! Please, don’t!"

Rebecca nodded weakly, the fight drained out of her. She allowed Nanny Malory to help her into the pull-up, the smooth, shiny fabric feeling foreign and uncomfortable against her skin. The cute panda pajamas followed, and despite her earlier resistance, Rebecca felt a small comfort in their soft embrace.

Nanny Malory tucked her into the bed, the childish bedspread feeling strangely comforting after the long, emotionally draining day. "There, there," she murmured, brushing Rebecca’s hair back from her face. "You'll get used to it, I promise. Just take it one day at a time."

Rebecca sniffled, her eyes heavy with exhaustion. "Will it get better?" she asked softly, her voice tinged with hope.

Nanny Malory smiled warmly, her eyes filled with genuine kindness. "Yes, dear. It will. You just need to trust the process and let us take care of you."

As Rebecca's eyes fluttered closed, she felt a small glimmer of hope amidst the confusion and fear. Maybe, just maybe, things would get better. For now, all she could do was trust in Nanny Malory's words and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
