Rebecca, Sophie's Bitter Rival

Sophie shot up in bed. She had just been rudely awoken from her slumber by a very loud noise. She was disorientated and was looking around to see what was happening, her mind tried to keep up with what was happening. However the darkness of the room and the earliness of the hour made that a difficult task.

This time Sophie rolled off her bed to get away from the deafening, blaring noise. Trying to regain some control she scrambled to her knees and turned on the bedside light. Sophie's eyes and ears began to adjust to their surroundings. It took a moment for Sophie's eyes to focus on the other person in the room. A moment to register the laughter coming from that person. An even longer moment for her brain to put everything together. "Rebecca?!" Sophie managed to say.

Rebecca was doubled over with laughter because of how she had woken Sophie; a gentle early morning blast from an air horn. Sophie and Rebecca had been rivals for over two years now, competing not only at work and for promotion but in love as well. Despite being three years younger than Rebecca, Sophie had won both professionally and personally. Sophie had worked on the slightly bigger project making slightly more profit. Even though the margins were fine it was enough to give Sophie the promotion she currently enjoyed. Both women had the hots for James, both had wanted a relationship with him but only Sophie managed to do so. Despite it only lasting six months, Rebecca still held a grudge. Neither woman was subtle about their feelings for the other and would do what they could to one-up the other.

Rebecca couldn't believe her good fortune when the court had asked her to help with Sophie's punishment. For a long time Rebecca had been dreaming of ways to humiliate Sophie and show everyone who is truly the boss. She wanted nothing more than to put Sophie back in her place, to teach her a lesson.

Rebecca's dreams had just come true.
