In all honestly, you'd totally forgotten all about her going away for this conference. Is was a big yearly thing her company did to reward its staff, but strictly employees only. Which meant you had the house to yourself for a whole week. One day off of work suddenly didn't seem like it was going to be enough. Maybe you should call in sick for the rest of the week.
