Who is it that Applejack harbors secret feelings for, and why would it be such a scandal?

Rainbow Dash, fastest flyer in all of Equestria, in all of history, and both Applejack's best friend and bitter rival...
That rivalry is a FRONT, a shield to bring up in the event that she starts getting too close to the truth about Applejack's feelings: but that is about to change, because Rainbow too harbors a secret, one she has just come to terms with herself. As Applejack sits there reading about the fictional love affair between 'Private Stormfront' and her earth pony paramour 'Miss Clear Water' there is a tap at her window.
"Who on earth?" She says jerking up the sheets and willing her sexual organs to vanish again, then goes over to the window half way across the room and opens it.
"Now what do you think-!" she starts in hotly before seeing WHO is at her window: "Rainbow! What are you doing here in the middle of the night?" Applejack starts in confused before Rainbow barges into her room and sits down on a chair. "Now just a cotton picking minute!" Applejack exclaims but Rainbow Dash puts a hoof to her lips and then says quietly.
"Just let me explain and then if you want we can pretend like I was never here." Rainbow Dash says with abnormal meekness.
Applejack's heart catches in her throat, but she sits on the bed and lets Rainbow Dash speak, up to a point.
"You know that the wind is blowing out of the Everfree, and that's why I am here: I've been wrestling with this for a long time I think you feel the same, and I've decided I don't CARE what the rest of the town or your family, or my family, or Twilight, or ANY one will think, just you-" Rainbow Dash whispers before Applejack leaps of the bed, bounds to her friend at a full gallop, and kisses her full on the mouth!
