What's next?
Racing to the exit
You left the passage where the pit was located and you headed towards the direction where your friends and companions have gone too. After the incident you were **** into, you want to be far away from that room as soon as you can. You can see that Rachael, Kate, Nina, Vargus, the Nido family and Melanie have waited for you.
“Rai, are you sure you’re okay?” Vargus asked you, holding your shoulders, looking around your form. “You’re not hurt, not needing to rest, not about to throw up?” he kept asking while feeling against his shoulder, chin back, patting your gut.
“I’m fine Vargus, I’m fine!” you stated, getting a hold of him to still the overly concerned Croconaw. “I just want me, my sister, and everyone here to be far away from this place as possible!” You told him, looking frustrated about what transpired not too long ago.
“I can’t believe they did this… They said they were providing shelter!” Rachael cried out, holding her ears in stress.
“I can’t blame you for being shaken. Even I can't wrap my head of what I heard.” Nina stated, holding her tail.
“It wasn’t all like this. We used to want to genuinely help others.” Melanie spoke, feeling remorse for everyone of the group who’s suffering.
“Look, you mean it when you say there’s another way out?” Gloria asked impatiently, holding her son and daughter who were shaking in fear.
“Yes, there is, but we need to hurry.” Melanie told them. “Considering what happened, Valorie will most likely seal it shut in order to keep us here.”
“What the h-heck is she planning? She completely lost it!” Terrence growled, barely keeping himself from swearing due to children present.
“That means we can’t waste time. If there’s more to this you want to talk about, save it for later.” You stated, moving your hand to your chest, but noticed your father’s medallion was missing. You then see Rachael’s paw extending to you, holding it to you.
“It was on the floor in front of the room where… all those bags were.” Rachael explained, pausing near the end as she was **** to finish the sentence.
“Thank you.” You thank her as you quickly put it on. “Now let's get going!”
“I know the way to the exit. Follow me.” Melanie stated as she started to head off to the direction.
“Just so you know, I do appreciate what you are doing, but I won’t forgive you for putting our children and what you were a part of.” Terrence told her, making sure his wife and children follow him.
“I understand.” she responded as you all headed down the path she was moving down to.
You think about Neku and noticed that Felix wasn’t among the group. “Where’s Felix?” You ask them.
“Felix said that Neku needed help making sure there weren't any straggling survivors.” Vargus responded, “He said he’ll catch up later. I sure hope so.”
“Still, it’s too big a risk even if you told him to do so.” Nina pointed out.
“Though we can’t let them perish without warning.” Rachael spoke, “We just have to trust them not to stay too long.”
You nodded your head, ‘They don’t know about how they’ll also…’ you pause as that’ll cause issues that’s not going to do anything to help right now. You kept up with the others as you also noticed that you all were catching up with the other psychic types. You noticed that they don’t do anything to stop you. Whether they’re more focused on trying to escape, or not really interested to stop isn’t what’s important right now.
You noticed that there are numerous paths that lead off somewhere. You look down, hoping to see footprints on the ground to see where they probably gone, but the ground was littered with so many footprints that it’s impossible for you to distinguish which is recent.
“Precautions were made to ensure that neither the infected nor hostile Pokèmon could follow us so easily.” Melanie explained, “I know the way though, so please follow me.” She said, heading down the middle path.
“Do we have a way to let Neku and Felix know where we went? Otherwise they’ll get lost.” Vargus asked her.
You take your tail and trace a arrow on the dirt.
“This should be able to guide them. And if there are other ones like this, I’ll do the same.” You said to him. just before you all face the pathway. You noticed your sister is shivering a bit, though you don’t feel cold or anything like that.
‘This is too much for her to take.’ You thought, moving to hold her shoulder.
“I’m here for you, and everyone here is too. Don’t be scared or worried.”
“O-Okay…” Kate stuttered, your words easing her a bit before you all kept going.
“You know, I’d noticed that there were still others back in the main areas of the church. Not just civilians, but a few church members too. Why didn’t Valorie let them know about this location? Why would she let them stay behind knowing this place will be attacked?” Vargus asked.
“She knows some of us aren’t scared enough to completely follow her ways. She must be intending to get rid of them with the infected.” Melanie answered, biting her lips.
“Is that so?” You asked, gritting your teeth. “She’ll get rid of anyone who poses a threat to her!” Your paws clenched into a fist as sparks of electricity jolted from your cheeks in anger.
“Rai, control yourself, anger can make one blind.” Nina spoke out, noticing your state.
You hear the Vulpix’s words and take a deep breath, your electricity sparks ceasing. “Sorry, I just… I can’t stand those who would cause harm to others and ditch them when it could cause them problems.”
“I know, but we need to keep moving.” Rachael added but then they heard a scream coming from up ahead.
“Wh-what was that yell?” Kate asked, looking towards the tunnel to the right.
“It sounded like it came from down there?” Rachael said, pointing towards the tunnel they were about to pass.
“That leads to a dead end. There should be no reason for anyone to go down there.” Melanie explained.
“So you’re saying it’s a trap?” Nina asked.
“Maybe…” The Gardevoir said, though looking unsure herself.
“Well if it’s a trap, we should just go on ahead. If we linger too long, we may never escape in time.” Nina said.
“But if someone’s in trouble, what will happen to them?” Vargus argued, looking concerned. You were thinking before a voice spoke out.
“I’ll go and check!” Kate stated and she took off running before anyone can speak.
“Wha- Kate wait!” You cried out, running after her. “It’s too dangerous to run off on your own!”
“Guess the decision has been made.” Nina said as she and Rachael went after you two.
“Wait, what about the exit?” Melanie asked, looking at the Nido family.
“We’ll catch up later! You get them to the exit!” Vargus said, going after the group and leaving the Gardevoir alone.
You run as fast as you could, but you could only able to see the tip of her tail as you noticed Nina and Rachael catching up and soon overtaking you. As you try to keep up, your mind think back of the Medicham that led this whole ordeal. From you discovering those pile of bags to trying to sacrifice you all made your cheeks spark once more, and your fangs baring.
‘She better hope I don’t find her again!’ you thought to yourself as you can hear the voices get louder.
Focus on the situation at hand!
