Chapter 9 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

How Does Running The "Slice Of Life" Go?

Quite Well; At First...

Running the "Slice of Life" proved easier than expected. Jessy's uncanny ability to create engaging and original advertisements meant that every tour time offered was sold out weeks in advance, and running the tours themselves was mostly a matter of being personable with the guests and then getting out of the way of the experienced hands that actually ran the big fishing yacht.

Everything went swimmingly for three months. They each caugt two new, strong, water types and the tours raked in money hand over fist. On Jessy's birthday James was even able to get her a new hot air balloon as her present. She was so touched she cried, and they went up above the buildings and trees again for the first time in almost a year: and regrettably, the last for quite some time thereafter...

The next day was just like any other, bright, sunny and full of work. First thing in the morning they went to check in on the beach shack, then it was off to the pier to greet the guests for today's eight hour fishing tour and welcome them aboard. After that nothing but taking turns steering the ship and mingling with the guests until they saw them off around mid-day; and then back to the shack to get ready for the dinner rush. Only well after sunset, around Ten at night, did they get to ride their bicycles back to their apartment and fall greatfuly into their beds to sleep like the dead until dawn and the alarm clock woke them again.

That was the theory anyway, but today things went quite a bit sideways...

What Went Wrong?
