Who??????
Queen Mother Elia
Aegon Smiled When His Uncle Said Something. "It Seems That We Have A New Hand, Long May She Live." Says Oberyn. "Don't Be Absurd, I Can Never Serve As The Hand." Says Elia. "Why The Hell Not? What, Because Your A Woman Surely?" Asks Aegon. "Now Don't You Start." Says Elia To Her Son. "If I May Inquire Your Grace What Could She Do? Because Gender Aside Queen Elia Is Unsuitable For Many Reasons." Says Pycelle. "Sheathe It Uncle, He May Be A Prick, But He Can't Be Easily Replaced." Says Aegon As The Sound Of Steel Being Sheathed. "Grand Maester I Thank You For Your Counsel, But If You Ever Insult My Mother Again, Seeing The Inside Of One Of The Black Cells Will Be The Least Of Your Worries. Still, Much As I'd Love To Appoint My Mother To The Position You Are Not Wrong, Even As Queen Mother, Appointing Her Is Too Controversial and Risky. Instead I Shall Choose A Man Of This Council To Fill The Role." Says Aegon and The Grand Maester Seem's To Think It's Him Because He Sits Up Straighter. "Lord Tyrion Lannister Your Removed From You Post Of Master Of Coin and Are Instead Named My Hand Of The King." Says Aegon, and Both Tyrion and Oberyn Spit Their Wine Out In Shock, Unfortunately This Means That The Grand Maester and Oberyn Himself Are Covered In Bile, Spit, and Unconsumed and Half-Drank Wine.
"Your Grace, Never Mind That I'm A Dwarf, But I Am More Drunk Than Most, and Is That Really The Kind Of Hand You Want?" Asks Tyrion. "It's Either You Or My Last Remaining Uncle." Says Aegon and Oberyn Once Again Spits His Wine Out In Shock, Once More Spewing The Grand Maester's Face In Wine, Bile, and Spit. "Breathe Uncle." Aegon Tells Him. "Nephew, I Am Unsuitable For Many Reasons, Many More Than Your Dear Mother." Says Oberyn. "More Than Me?" Says Tyrion. "Some Might Say That." Says Oberyn. "Okay, Fine, I'll Pick Somebody Else, If It'll Stop You Two From Trying To Decide Who's A Worse Choice For The Hand. Tyrion If You Won't Take The Job, Then You Can Consider Yourself Still Master Of Coin, As For You Uncle, You Can Consider Your Royal Funding Cut In Half For A Week. Now Then, If I'm To Have A Hand Who Won't Question His Worth, It Ought To Be Someone Who Know's What He's Doing Half As Well As He Wants To." Says Aegon. "Who? I Hope Your Not Suggesting My Lord Father?" Asks Tyrion. "No, Send's The Wrong Message. Instead, I Would Name A Man Who Though New To The Role Won't Disappoint His King Or His Fellows On The Small Council." Says Aegon. "That's A Pretty Short List." Notes Lord Stannis. "Which Is Why Your Topping It Lord Stannis." Says Aegon. "Your Grace, I Am Loved Little, Even Our Soon Arriving Master Of Ships Has More Fans Than I, and We Aren't So Different." Says Stannis. "Then It'll Be That Little Brother Of Yours, He's More Loved If I Recall Rightly." Says Aegon, Enjoying Twisting The Options A Little Too Much.
"No, Renly Won't Do." Says Stannis. "Egg, Stop Having Fun, Be Serious." Says Elia. "Oh Fine, Send A Raven To Highgarden, Asking Willas Tyrell To Come Serve As The King's Hand, From What I Saw and What Margaery Has Told Of Him, He's Far More Suitable Than His Fat Father." Says Aegon In Exasperation. "What Of Your Other Suitors? Shall You Follow Your Father and Marry Two? Or Stay Faithful In Marriage But Not In Your Lovers?" Asks Oberyn. "Both." Says Aegon Before His Mother Can Get A Word Out. "Your Grace, Your Royal Father Nearly Destroyed The Realm By Marrying Two Women, Surely You Cannot Be Thinking Of Doing The Same?" Asks Pycelle. "No One Is Looking For More War, and Even If Lord Robert Did Court It, How Many Men Would Follow Him? He Tried It Once and He Lost When It Mattered The Most. Never Mind That His Border Lord's Chose The Crown. If I Do Marry Another, It Must Be Into One Of The Rebel Houses, Which Means Baratheon, Stark, Arryn, Tully, Or Lannister." Says Aegon.
"Your Grace, My Family Stayed Neutral Until After The Trident." Says Tyrion. "Aye, But Your Forgetting Those Lord's Who Declined Your Father and Chose To Stand Up For What Was Right Against What They Were Told." Says Aegon. "You Make It Sound Like They Had Every Right?" Asks Elia. "Not Every Right, But It Was My Grandfather In Charge." Aegon Admits. "Then Who Is It You Wish To Court?" Asks Varys. "Well, I Can't Court All The Houses, Chiefly Because There Isn't As Many Flowered Daughters In Each House. Rhaenys Might Have To Marry Into One, and Aunt Dany Another. If I Remember Correctly, I Could Still Court Lady Sansa, Or Her Sister,Dany Or Rhae Could Wed The Unwed Lord Tully, and The Other Could Court The Young Lord Arryn." Says Aegon. "I Think We Should Wait Until You Have An Heir." Says Elia. "I've Made My Decision Mother. But Your Not Wrong, Margaery and I Will Ride North, Dany and Rhaenys Will Join Us, At Least Until We Reach Riverrun." Says Aegon. "You Mean To Ride To Winterfell?" Asks Oberyn. "Yes, We'll Spend A Couple Months There. After A Few, We'll Trek Back, and Stop In At The Rock Or The Eyrie. Tyene and Nymeria Shall Join Us." Says Aegon. "Who Shall Sit On The Throne?" Asks Oberyn. "You Will.....Mother. I Name You Acting and Interim Ruler. Now Then, Someone Should Tell Margaery, Tye and Nym, Rhaenys and Dany, and Anybody Else Who's Worth Being Told." Says Aegon.
Aegon and His Family Had Made The Journey From The City To The Capital Seat Of The Riverlands, Riverrun. They'd Spend No More Than A Week There, Before Continuing On To Winterfell. Whilst There, Aegon Hoped To Get The Measure Of Edmure Tully, A Man Considered A Lacklustre Lord Tully Compared To His Uncle Brynden Tully, Considered The Tully's Trout Equivalent Of A Black Sheep Of The Family. If The Man Were As Useful As He Had Heard, At His Best He Would Be A Mediocre Match For Dany. That Said, His Nephew Robin Could Be An Even Worse Match For Dany Than He Was. Lady Lysa Was Never Much For Sanity, But With The **** Of Jon Arryn, Lysa Has Taken A Regency For The Future Lord Of The Vale, and For All Intents and Purposes, Has Turned The Boy Into Barely A Boy With Her Parenting. No, Aegon Knew He Would Need To **** The Issue If The Rumors Were True.
Aegon Could Easily "Encourage" A Fostering At An Arryn Vassal, Where He Wouldn't Be Coddled Or Emasculated, Or He Could Even **** The Issue That The Boy Needed To See More Of The World, and That Lysa Was Unfit For Ruling The Vale and Instead Insist Lord Royce Be Acting Lord Of The Vale. If There Was One Family Who Would Set The Matter Right Without Undue Action, It Was The Stark Family, Robin Arryn's Maternal Cousins. Nevertheless, Aegon Hoped To See Lord Hoster Tully, The Man Was Bedridden More Than His Great Uncle Lewyn. Aegon Also Hoped To Be Able To Pass The Twin's Without Major Concessions Or Incidents, Walder Frey Would Haggle Like Some Old Fishwife, and Aegon Would Rather Let The Man Know The Only Thing Aegon Would Give Him Was The Coin To Pass, Or The Headsman's Axe For Trying To Change His Mind. It'd Be Another Day Or Two Before They Got To Riverrun By Way Of The River Road Junction Near The Ruby Ford.
Stop At The Ruby Ford?
