Putting the plan into action

We spend the next few hours clearing out the gas tanks left inside the storage and we inspected the door and walls to make sure zombies will not be able to break out. We then found some sturdy rope and rigged the ventilation shaft so we can climb out after the zombies are drawn in. We also partially dismantled the stairs using a sledge hammer creating a 4 feet wide gap so that we can jump over but the zombies cannot get to the second floor. Finally we attatched a chain and some counter weight on to the cargo lift we we can actually raise it manually.

After everything is finished it is already late into the night, we decided to call it a day and took refuge on the second floor of the building.

The next day we quicked developed a plan to draw the attention of the zombies in the surrounding area. We found a radio with a tape player which still have some batteries inside and I am going to carry it with me with volume at full blast to attract the attention of the zombies. Since Chloe is still not as strong and nimble as I am she will hide on the roof and close the door behind the zombies after they all entered the first floor.

Chloe inspected the radio and said,"All the radio station are dead, but there still seem to be some cassette tape inside. Guess we can use that. You ready Alex?" "Sure, these zombies are too slow to catch me anyways."

We decided its best to start with the zombies near the outside and slowly draw them in so we started on the streets nearby. I clicked play for the cassette tape and the speaker sprung to life, "We are no strangers to love~ You know the rule and so do I~" Fuck, rick-rolled in an apocalypse, what a day. Its too late to find other cassette tape, so I just decied to "roll" with it. The song worked wonders and quickly I can spot several zombies converging on my position. I paced myself so that the zombies trail a safe distance behind me. Very quickly I a massed about a dozen zombies behind me. Most of the zombies from the surrounding areas are clear at this point and I proceeded to the main warehouse. This place prove to be a bit more fruitful, about 20 more zombies are added to the horde behind me. Although there are a few more buildings around that can house more I decided that more might become dangerous and started to move toward the storage building. As I came close Chloe signaled that she is ready so I didn't hesitate and entered the building. I kept circled around on the first floor for a minute to make sure all zombies have entered. Now the situation is getting a bit more hectic, I almost got scratched in a few instance. Knowing I am near my limited I just up the gap on the stair case and get ready to take down any zombie that try to cross.

After a few minute I can confirm that the zombies are just crowding the stairs, a few attempted to walk upward but all of those fall back to the first floor. Chloe have also completed her mission and closed the door behind the zombies. Just to be extra cautious I blocked off the upper end of the stair case with some wooden boxes. Chloe also entered from the ventilation shaft. "Worked out pretty good right?" "Well I can't complain." "I think all that left is to clear out a few zombies that is left behind and we are all good." "Sure lets do it."

A few hours later we have cleared the whole complex. There are 3 buildings in total, a 3 stories tall main warehouse, an unloading dock and the storage building we repurposed earlier. There are fences surrounding the perimeter so it will be realtively safe from the zombies. We also built some road blocks at the main and back entrance to be extra safe.

With most of the preliminary work done it is already late into the afternoon so we decided to settle down. We ate a can of spam and some chips to celebrate the success of securing a new base and took a quick nap on a couch to recoup our energy.
