Viella didn’t immediately answer, sitting herself down on the edge of his bed first. She was pointedly looking down at her own feet. “You love me, right, Vel?” That was not what he had expected. He cautiously reached out for her mind while answering. “Of course I do, Ella, I love you to bits.” She was extremely nervous, most of her emotions were fluctuating a lot, but a steely streak of determination cut through it all. She wanted something and was determined to see it through.

His reassurance about his love helped settle her nerves a little, but she was still on edge. “Do you love me only as your sister or in, uh, other ways too?” Her fear was rising, that been really difficult for her to get out, but that steely determination had seen her through. Vel felt his respect for Ella grow. She was really facing her fears here. This was why she’d been the first of his sisters to come back to him. Adeline of course had never left him. Despite being so young, her will was impressive indeed. “I love you in so many ways, Sweetie. As my sister is only one of them.” Joy. Using command consciously for the first time, he imbued his voice with power and spoke firmly but gently. “Ella, stop.” The effect was immediate. Her mouth snapped shut and she looked at him wide eyed. Before saying anything, he pulled her into his embrace and kissed. She didn’t hesitate, immediately returning the kiss. Briefly, her mind stilled as she lost herself in the kiss and the comfort of her big brother’s arms. Her eyes grew wide again, but she looked straight into his and nodded. “But Vel, isn’t that like, wrong? “Ella, I want you to close your eyes and look inside yourself.” There was a bit of confusion in her mind, but she obeyed and closed her eyes. “I’m not sure how to look inside myself, Vel.” That was fair, it was pretty vague instruction. “Just focus on your own mind, on your own thoughts.” She nodded, scrunching her face up in an incredibly adorable way. “Now, I want you to let your guard down. Relax, and open your mind.” Ella breathed deeply and Vel could feel her membrane, not weaken, but kind of lower. He pushed up against it, making no attempt to be subtle. “Can you feel me, Princess?” She kept her eyes closed, but her expression was clearly amazed, and she nodded. “Then let me in, Sweetie.” She did, her membrane fell away, but he once again knew that it was only for him. He entered Ella’s mind.

“Vel, oh gods, that light… That’s you!” Her eyes were still closed. Vel could taste her awe, it was sweet. He had expected her to question it, but she didn’t. Ella just accepted it; her brother was simply that amazing. “I love you, Princess.” He both said it out loud and in her mind.
