Pumpkin Head

Jane muttered angrily to herself as she trudged through the dump, looking for either the exit or some cover. She came to a stop just as she noticed something in a large pile of garbage: the corner of a cardboard box. It was cliche, but...

"Beggars can't be choosers." Jane groaned as she grabbed the corner of the box and pulled, finding it stuck. "Come on, you stupid -"

Tugging as hard as she could, Jane managed to dislodge the box from the pile. Unfortunately, this in turn caused an avalanche of garbage to rain down of Jane, the red head only having enough time to yelp before she was completely buried by the filth. A few seconds later, Jane's head popped out from the pile, an old jack-o'-lantern over her head as garbage juice coated her skin.

"Kasumi!" Jane yelled as she wriggled her way out of the smelly garbage pile.

"Why am I back here, again?" Kasumi muttered as she sat in the very back of the skycar between Ashley, who kept a tight grip on the back of her hood, and Samara while Liara drove and Miranda rode shotgun with Jack in her lap.

"I'm sorry, do you want to be up there within arm's reach of an enraged asari?" Ashley asked rhetorically, causing Kasumi to shut up. "Didn't think so."

"With all do respect, Liara," Samara began, "do you really think it was wise to leave Aria in charge of your party until we can get Shepard back?"

"She gave me her word that she would be civil tonight."

"And you trust a pirate who owns several strip clubs throughout the galaxy to not turn your Halloween party into a private sex club?" Jack asked skeptically, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course not." Liara replied. "I'll let you all in on a little secret: Being invited to the party wasn't the only reward for her, relatively, good behavior tonight. I... May have access to a holovid file that, if it got out, would destroy Aria's reputation."

"Ooh! Now that I have to hear!" Jack said.

"I'd tell you, but Aria would kill you and make it look like an accident." Liara said before donning a smirk, "But let's just say it involves Tevos and leave it at that. Now, let's focus on finding Jane!"

"Ugh! I'm gonna need a ten hour shower when I get back!" Jane groaned, gagging at the stench that now covered her as she climbed out of the garbage heap. She reached for the jack-o'-lantern on her head and pulled... But it wouldn't budge.

"Oh, come the fuck on!" Jane spat as she pulled at the pumpkin harder. However, it seemed that the pumpkin was stuck over her head. She could destroy it with a biotic blast, but that would run the risk of blowing her own head off in the process. After a minute, Jane sighed and placed her hands on her hips, shaking her head as she looked down at her feet through the triangular eye holes. "Just great! Now wh-"

"Who's out there?!"

"Shit!" Jane whispered, looking up in surprise before running towards a fence...
