Chapter 22 by jj0445 jj0445

What do you do?

Pull Jane down the Alleyway

You glance toward the quieter overlook branching away from the main boardwalk.

Then back toward Jane again.

The look in her eyes makes your stomach tighten almost immediately.

Soft golden sunlight spills across her face while the ocean breeze moves strands of hair gently around her shoulders. The noise from the boardwalk feels farther away now compared to the quieter side street nearby.

And honestly?

The way she’s looking at you right now makes it very hard to think about anything else.

Without saying anything, you gently tug her hand and guide her away from the crowds.

Jane immediately smiles.

“There you are,” she teases softly while following beside you.

“You say that like I disappeared,” you reply.

“You were behaving suspiciously respectful,” she says dramatically.

You laugh quietly while the two of you continue farther down the quieter path together.

The noise from the boardwalk fades more with every step until it’s mostly replaced by distant waves crashing below the overlook ahead. Warm golden sunlight pours between the buildings while the ocean stretches out beyond the railing near the end of the path.

Hardly anyone else is around.

The second you reach the overlook, Jane leans lightly against the railing while looking out toward the water.

The sunlight catches softly against her skin while the oversized hoodie slips slightly off one shoulder, exposing more of the bikini strap underneath.

And once again, she catches you staring almost immediately.

“You’re doing it again,” she says softly without looking away from you.

“You make it difficult not to.”

That finally pulls her attention fully back toward you.

For a second, neither of you says anything.

The air feels warmer suddenly.

Quieter.

The kind of silence that slowly builds tension instead of breaking it.

Then Jane steps closer.

Not teasing this time.

Just close.

One of her hands slides slowly up along your chest before loosely hooking around the back of your neck.

“You know,” she says quietly, “you’ve been looking at me like that all day.”

“Can you blame me?” you ask softly.

“No,” she admits with a tiny smile.

Your hand settles naturally against her waist before pulling her closer until her body presses lightly against yours.

The second the distance disappears between you, her breathing changes slightly.

And honestly?

So does yours.

The sunset light spilling across the overlook turns everything warm gold around both of you while ocean waves crash steadily below.

Then she kisses you first.

Soft at first.

Slow.

But the second you kiss her back properly, her fingers tighten lightly against the back of your neck while your other hand slides along her waist beneath the oversized hoodie.

The kiss deepens naturally after that.

Unhurried.

Warm.

The kind that makes the rest of the world feel farther away for a little while.

Jane melts against you almost immediately, her body fitting naturally against yours while your hands pull her closer.

A quiet breath escapes her when your lips trail briefly along her jaw before returning to her mouth again.

“Oh my god,” she murmurs breathlessly against your lips. “You’re distracting.”

“You started this,” you whisper back.

“That’s true,” she admits softly before kissing you again anyway.

The tension keeps building slowly after that.

Her hands slide into your hair while your fingers trace along the curve of her waist beneath the hoodie. Every soft kiss turns into another one. Every little pause lasts barely a second before one of you closes the distance again.

And somewhere between the warmth of her pressed against you, the ocean breeze, and the golden sunset surrounding both of you—

the entire moment starts feeling dangerously addictive.

Eventually Jane laughs quietly against your lips once both of you finally pull apart slightly to breathe.

“We should probably stop before this escalates,” she admits softly.

“You say that like you’re helping.”

“I’m absolutely not helping,” she says immediately.

You laugh quietly while resting your forehead lightly against hers.

The private moment leaves Jane feeling wanted, close, and emotionally wrapped up in you for the rest of the evening.
