Chapter 2
The beginning
Prologue - Kai
The sunlight gently streamed through the passing clouds, enveloping Kai in its warmth from the window of her table, stirring her eyes as she slowly awakes. Her eyes blinked open as she stirred from her peaceful slumber at the table, unnoticed what her feet were up too by minutes.
(Before Kai woken)
Underneath, her legs were crossed, and her feet nestled and maneuver within the thin nylon socks that delighted in the silky sensation as they brushed against each other. Both her soles misted in sweat and humidity, were warming by today’s walk.
"My, if this woman stopped wearing these tight and rigid heels, she'd realize how burdened those can be." One foot sighed.
"Ah, it seems our sweet little bird has awoken." Replied the other foot’s fainted voice.
As the feminine voices faded, the feet un-hook as both stretched in released a bit of their cramps.
It flexed and bundle as they shoveled the heels and firmly slip itself; finding comfort in their familiar insoles as they awaited their owner.
Kai, now awake, detected the aroma of coffee wafting from the café. Glancing at her phone, it read 4:36 pm, signaling the time to head home.
Her soles ached from the day's walking, particularly from the maroon kitten heels she wore as part of her work dress code. It wasn’t pleasant to experience this often times.
Once home, Kai slip off the uncomfortable heels, revealing their slightly worn insoles imprinted with her sole. She switched to more comfortable tan suede flats, a change that eased her foot cramps as she attended to her household chores. It may have helped her but her energy slowly declined as she finished her tasks.
Exhausted, she eventually found herself on the couch, arm draped over her eyes, eased toward sleep.
Kai: I don’t have a slight of strength. My body is numb and shivered. My eyes can’t even open, how frail of me to overworked. mmm.
Kai: If only i have the time to actually rest…
Her feet, hanging off the cushion, slightly bent affirming her sleep overtook her.
"Even her. Today was a stressful day," one foot mumbled.
"Indeed, even so, these flats don't quite cut it. I yearn for more comfort. They can't even properly support my bridges, and now I feel cold," replied the other foot's muffled voice.
