You listen to the typical hold music as you wait for your call to be transferred. Maya sits beside you, arms around your waist and redo her head on your shoulder. Anna gives you a peck on the cheek and nervously begins cleaning the kitchen.

The music cuts off as the call is picked up. “Hello, this is Rachel Everson, AWIO Placement and Counseling, how can I help you?”

“Hello Rachel, it’s Josh Meyer, Maya’s sponsor.”

“Oh, Josh! How are things going? Looking to sponsor a new girl yet? I’m sure Maya would love another monster girl in the house !” You can hear the smile in Rachel’s voice.

“Well, no, it’s a bit more serious than that, actually...” You fill Rachel in on the letter, and you hear an exasperated sigh on the other end of the line.

“Josh, you need to bring Maya here right away. Anna too, actually. We need to talk. I may have a solution for you, but there is some risk.”

“If you say so, Rachel. We will head out right away.”

At the Arrival Center, Rachel brings the three of you into a meeting room.

“I didn’t think you would have to deal with this so soon, but I should have expected it. Reclusive wealthy young man suddenly reenters society with a half-dragon on his arm, people notice.”

She sighs, “First things first, HPP is the Human Purity Project. In essence, a well organized terrorist group. Obviously their stated goal is to ‘protect the purity of the human race’. They consider monster girls subhuman animals. Until recently they mostly just staged protests and things like that. Now they resort to direct threats and have taken violent action against some sponsors.”

Rachel looks at you nervously, “Basically, you have a couple options. One, you can send Maya back here.” You immediately shake your head. Rachel smiles and Maya squeezes your hand. “I didn’t think you would do that. Option two is armed guards. It’s expensive and intrusive, but you can afford it. There is a third option though.”

“Third option? You sound like you think this is the best choice...”

Rachel smiles, “Well, if you’re willing to take on another sponsorship, we have a girl here who could keep you safe, and also be a pleasant companion. It’s up to you, though. I will say that she is a rare breed of monster girl, and considered dangerous by many, but she’s a lovely girl who would never hurt anyone who didn’t threaten her.”
