Chapter 6 by CoolSoCool CoolSoCool

When should he try something?

Probably after Dinner

While Elm definitely liked the idea of trying this out as soon as possible, there was still that aspersion and fear of trying something like that. Plus he needed to get situated with his new home. So for the rest of the day, he got acquainted with the main parts of the house, along with where the moving people put all his stuff, which Elm found intrusive to just put a random person's stuff but they did do a good job. He found the kitchen, living room, dining hall that was longer than he had expected, a game room, and a menagerie of just empty bedrooms.

He eventually found Zelda outside in the garden. She was quietly humming to herself the main tune of The Legend of Zelda as she worked with some flowers. The idea popped back into Elm's mind to try something but he quickly pushed it down, he had a plan in place after all. Instead, he just ended up watching her from the doorway into the house.

"Oh, hello," she said after a while, finally noticing Elm. "Do you need anything?" Yeah, he did. He pushed the thought down but then another popped into his head.

"Uh yeah actually," Elm said taking a step forwards. "Could you answer a few questions about yourself, if it isn't too much trouble?" Zelda softly nodded. "So umm, before you got here? How did you get here?" Zelda paused her tending to the flowers and took in a deep breath recalling the memories.

"It was after Gannon was defeated, right after if I remember correctly. Me and Link had set up camp a bit off from Hyrule Castle. I fell asleep for the night. Heh, it was the first time I had slept in a hundred years in fact. sigh. Then I woke up in a strange stone room, these people had me chained up and naked. They did tests along with teaching me all I needed to know to be a maid here. It lasted for a while, until this morning when I just woke up in a capsule-like device staring at the face of this old man. He told me that I should start working as my owner was coming to the house soon. So I did that as you could guess," Zelda explained slowly, swapping her sight between Elm and the flowers. Of course, there was that old man again Elm thought to himself.

"So, why didn't you take the chance to run away," Elm asked Zelda. The frown she had deepened on her face, still working on the flowers.

"I can't. They set up these perimeters around the owner's house that would contact the authorities if any one of us tried to escape. They would just send back, easily in fact, as they already took away our strength to do anything powerful, like using the powers gifted by the goddess Hylia. Well unless the owner allows us to have a bit of that power back," Zelda explained solemnly. "I hate to repeat myself but I thought you would know all this."

"Oh yeah I do, it's just that I want to be sure that you know it so you don't try anything and hurt yourself or anything," Elm quickly lied to her. "You can go back to what you were doing now I guess." And Zelda did just that.

So, she definitely confirmed to him that what he read was true about this RealDream. Either that or someone was playing the most elaborate prank on him. Elm rubbed the bridge between his eyes, today was just something else. He looked up at the sky like maybe there was something there. It was the opposite in fact as he spotted the sun trekking down across the other side of the mountains. He figured that he should get dinner going one way or the other. His heart giddily skipped a beat at the thought.

What to eat?
