Chapter 6 by The-Drunken-Bandit The-Drunken-Bandit

Which do you pick?

Princess

Though it may take a lot of convincing on your part, recruiting a princess comes with a lot of advantages. Some of those advantages will often come in the form of having strong allies in the form of the princesses home kingdom. Though it also comes with equal disadvantages as these kingdoms may have severe issues or the Princess in question may have some great flaws in them.

Regardless, recruiting from the nobility of other worlds comes with so many advantages that you can’t resist the idea of recruiting them. So, with that in mind, you immediately think of three princesses that you’ve encountered during your travels across the multiverse that would be open to the idea of aiding you or at the very least escaping into your home dimension.

1. Mulan: Fa Mulan… Man, that brings back some memories. Most of those memories have to do with the fact that you were unintentionally drafted into this worlds version of the Chinese Imperial Army, now that wasn’t a fun experience. Mainly due to the fact that you had to go incognito throughout most of your time here in order to blend in with the local populace. Apparently, you succeeded a little too well because your ass shipped off to basic training just after a few days after arriving to this world.

This unintended draft is also how you met Fa Mulan the run away daughter who joined the army in order to protect her old and injured father whose place she originally took, as the Emperor demanded that all families give one male son over to the Army in order to fight the invading Huns. Immediately right off the bat, you recognized that Mulan was actually woman and not a man, it wasn’t hard considering the fact that you were **** to bunk with her. You, of course, confronted her about this and demanded answers about why she would do this, especially when since the punishment for a woman joining the Army was ****. This event is what lead you to discover Mulan’s past and her reasons for joining the Army and you eventually decided to keep your mouth shut about the entire matter out of respect and out of understanding the need to protect a loved one. Mulan was extremely grateful for this and was even more grateful for the times that you helped hide her true gender from the others.

Though as you think back at the many times that you had to cover for Mulan, you distinctly remember the times that the two of you were **** to bathe together in order to throw off suspicion. You personally had no issues with doing such a thing, but Mulan, on the other hand, wasn’t exactly as comfortable with the thought of bathing so close to man.

When you look back you do distinctly remember Mulan going red in the face the first time she saw naked and you also distinctly remember her eyes being unable to look above your waistline during the **** baths the two of you took. This wasn't the only time Mulan showed interest in you either as you remember the subtle glances that the china girl would shoot towards you when she thought you weren’t looking. This wasn’t surprising considering Mulan’s rather disastrous history with trying to find a husband, a history that she shared with you along with many other stories and misadventures that she had back at home.

So honestly didn’t come as such a surprise to you that the first man that Mulan actually meets that fully accepts her as she is would be one that she started to develop feelings for. However, the two of you could not pursue such a relationship due to the environment and the respective covers that the two of you were in and so the both of you had to hold off on any attempts to explore said relationship until the war was over.

Which ironically came relatively fast, mainly thanks to the fact that Mulan’s pet Dragon Mushu manipulated the commanding officer’s into sending you and your entire unit out to face the enemy head-on. Which was a complete mistake that ended up costing you and Mulan’s entire unit most of its men as the unready troops ended up facing the oncoming Hun horde on a mountain top, which surprise, surprise, caused an avalanche that buried the entirety of the invading Hun forces. However it did so at the cost of your unit losing about two thirds of its men and at the cost of you blowing your cover so you could save Mulan and lead commanding officer life as you had to bring your power armor back out in order to protect the two of them from the brunt of the damage caused by the avalanche.

Which while your actions did save Mulan and the commanding officers life, it did so at the cost of exposing Mulan’s true identity as despite you protecting her from the majority of the damage she was still hurt bad enough that they had to cut her open her and sow her back up to save her life. At this revelation and the exposure of your true identity brought a lot of questioning and if it hadn’t been for the commanding officer that you saved, you will Mulan would’ve been executed for high treason.

However instead, the two of you were exiled from the Army and were **** to leave on foot and in shame. As the two of you left the army camp, you decided to travel along with Mulan in order to ensure that she got home safe as despite taking out the Huns, there was still a rise in banditry throughout the entire land. It was during this trek back to Mulan’s village and the subsequent attempts by Mushu to cheer her up that Mulan finally broke down and reach the lowest point in her life as she absolutely dreaded returning home to face the wrath of her family, who would surely cast her out after what she had done. Despite this Mushu tried his best to cheer her up and you even offered Mulan the choice of coming with you in traveling to the multi-verse if her parents really did try to kick her to the curb. With your offer and the pep talk from Mushu, it looked like Mulan was starting to cheer up and with this came Mulan’s attempt to finally pursue a romantic relationship with you but before she could even try fate intervened.

As apparently some of the invading Huns somehow survived the avalanche and were beginning to make their way down to the royal palace in an attempt to hold the Emperor hostage. What followed afterwards was a mad rush to warn the forces in the capital about the impending Hun attack but due to the fact that you and Mulan the exiled out of the Army no one wanted listened to a single word that either of you say until it was far too late.

You have long since made a personal rule about not to get involved in the politics of other worlds, but considering that your friend's world would have collapse without the Emperor you made an exception that day. You won’t bring up the battle or what transpired during it, but the short narrow of it is that you and Mulan with the aid of several soldiers from your former unit stopped the attempted ****/hostage of the Emperor and in doing so regained Mulan’s honor and were named hero's of China.

Following the aftermath of the event, you notice that Mulan become sweet on the old commander of your unit and also saw that those feelings were shared by the commander. Seeing that Mulan’s path in life was set with this man you let her go and left in the dead of night, leaving only a letter behind and explaining that Mulan should move on with her life and be with a man who will always be there for her, instead of trying to chase after a man who jumped around constantly.

Despite leaving this letter and letting her go, you still feel the sense of longing of what could’ve been…

Agh… You shake your head to break away from this wave of nostalgia and ask yourself the important question of whether or not you want your old squadmate back with you…

2. Jasmine: the Desert Princess. Heh. You have some fond memories of the time you spent with Princess Jasmine. Most of them having to do with the adventures that the two of you would go on when Aladdin decided to run off on his own private adventures with genie and his friends. You can still recall the chain of events that led to you originally meeting the Princess in the first place.

The beginning of this chain started way back when you first arrived in this world. Your arrival was met with confusion and an **** case of mistaken identity as many of the locals originally thought that you were some kind of King because of your armor and equipment. So much so that the actually got the guards to guide you to the royal palace where you met the rather silly, yet kind Sultan of this land and his rather angry daughter, who originally thought that you were another one of her would be suitors.

Of course, you immediately cleared this up and explained what and who you really were much to the disappointment of Sultan and to the great relief of Jasmine as she immediately lightened up when she realized that you weren’t one her many would be suitors. Despite this revelation, the Sultan still treated you rather nicely and even offered you the hospitality of staying within the palace as a guest, which you immediately accepted and in turn offered the Sultan some new basic technology and some good old-fashioned home cooking of some foods that he had never seen before much to his delight.

However, this is also how you came into contact with that snake of man, Jafar and immediately knew that, that oily bastard was some kind of political schemer and that he was using magic to influence the kingdom. You didn’t exactly know what type of magic, but you knew some type of mind magic, and because of this, you kept close tabs on him and the king. So much so that you even gave a small little ward to the Sultan to protect his mind from whatever form of influence Jafar had on him. Moving on Jafar tried to play nice with you at first especially after seeing the technology that you offered to the kingdom, he even went so far as to ask you about the different types of magic that you encountered throughout your journeys. That Bastard even had the gall to ask you to teach him, which you subtly refused by making up several excuses. However, this did not deter Jafar as he kept pressing you for knowledge until you eventually had enough and gave him something small enough to get him off your back. What you gave him was a map, a map that you originally thought was a complete and total hoax as it spoke of it ancient magical vault in the heart of the desert that contained an extremely powerful magical artifact in the form of a magical wish-granting lamp.

This, of course, came back to bite you in the ass a couple of days later as a couple of days after one of princess jasmines trips outside the palace, you and the entire kingdom were greeted by “Prince Ali”, a so-called royal that came out of nowhere to ask for the princess's hand in marriage. However, you knew the truth, and so did Jasmine as she met this so-called Prince a couple days ago back when she snuck out of the palace. This “Prince” was in actuality a smalltime street rat named Aladdin, who somehow got his hands on the fabled genie's lamp and so the next day following his arrival you followed him until he eventually began to converse with the genie. It was here that you finally confronted Aladdin then demanded answers about where he got his hands on the lamp and what his intentions actually were for Princess Jasmine.

His answers were rather surprising and clichéd, to say the least… it appears that the young street rat had fallen in love with the Princess after she saved his life and limb from the local guard and Aladdin wanted to do his best to impress the young princess in order to win her love. He also went on to explain that he got the genie's lamp from the mystical cave in the desert, the very cave whose location was only known on one map, a map that you gave to Jafar.

After slapping yourself in the face for handing over such a priceless piece of information to power-hungry egomaniac, you immediately told Aladdin that the way to win Jasmine’s heart was not with Riches or fame or anything like that. No, the only way to win Jasmine’s heart was to be true to who you were and look past all the glitz and glamour on a person and see them for what they truly were. Which Aladdin agreed that yeah, you were right because he learned this little lesson after he and Jasmine had a bit of an adventure and had a long heartfelt conversation which ended up having the Princess surprisingly fall for the young guy.

However, just to be sure that Aladdin’s intentions were true you decided to test him a little by giving him the choice of either using the genie to stop you from killing him or to let you pull the trigger of the very large gun you had held to his head. Of course, the genie and Aladdin freaked out at the sight of the weapon and what it could do after you showed its capabilities, but despite this Aladdin passed your test and proved that he was willing to die for Jasmine. After both sighed in relief after the explanation of your test, you told Aladdin that it be best to explain the truth to the Sultan and that anything he needed to make a deal for Jasmine’s hand after the Sultan heard the truth you would help provide.

Though, just when the two of you entered the throne room, you and Aladdin spotted Jafar’s attempt to bend the sultan's mind to his will with his little magic staff. Which of course failed thanks to your specialized rune that you handed to the king earlier and after a short fight in which Jafar soundly got his ass beaten by Aladdin you originally thought everything was over and that you could leave this world with nothing but happy memories behind you.

Then again you were batten pretty bad that month as the next day when Jasmine and Aladdin tried to get married Jafar showed up with genies lamp and caused a whole hellva of a lot of trouble, which would’ve gotten a lot worse if you hadn’t shot that smug jackass in the head. For despite having overwhelming power granted to him by the genie, Jafar had never seen a firearm before and as such didn’t know the he should've take you out before you had the chance to pull the trigger.

After dispatching Jafar and retrieving the genie's lamp, you undid the damage that jackass caused to the entire world and decided to stick around to ensure that nothing like this would ever happen again, well, at least until Jasmine and Aladdin’s wedding, which they decided to postpone for at least a couple of years following the Jafar incident.

It was during these few years that you, Jasmine, and Aladdin went on several adventures, some good, some bad, and some that were rather time bending. Regardless you had fun and made many friends along the way, but you do remember a distinct oddity in your relationship with the Princess as at times it seemed like she was trying to seduce you, especially during those times when Aladdin did something really stupid that ticked her off.

Regardless it might be nice to have your old adventure buddy at your side as you try to bring balance to the multi-verse…

3. Merida: Merida… Boy, this is a… Complicated story to say the least… You say this because you and Merida almost ended up getting married. The story behind this is rather simple really; you see you ended up going to her kingdom in order to study the unique magic existed within it. However, when you arrived, you were mistaken for a noble and was immediately pushed into the running for the young princesses hand in marriage. Something that you tried to object too but ultimately fell on deaf ears as most of the Scotsmen decided to ignore you, mainly out of jealousy and pigheadedness. Regardless you ended up entering into the archery competition and won by a landslide when you split one of the arrows of one of the princesses suitors in half straight down the middle into a bulls-eye. After your win though Meridia refused to marry you much to the ire of her parents as she went on to say that she would not marry a faceless man who could be a demon of all things.

Finally having enough of these shenanigans you stepped out of your armor and showed that you were, in fact, a normal, though admittedly extremely attractive, human man.

The very minute you stepped out of your armor and showed your true face to those scots will forever be burned into your memory as you distinctly recall seeing Meridia’s face go completely red and her jaw-dropping as her eyes went wide at the sight of your actual appearance. However, this look of shock soon turned into a look of disappointment and horror as you revealed the actual truth of why you came to this world and how you ended up in this absurd case of mistaken identity.

As Merida was absolutely disappointed and immediately refused to marry the runner-up in the competition and you can’t really blame her as that Dingwall boy looked like his lights were on, but nobody was home if you get my meaning. So in order to avoid marrying that lout, Meridia did something unexpected and completely against all tradition and decided to shoot for her own hand in order to escape a terrible marriage. To which she succeeded in as she was able to accomplish exactly what you were able to do and was able to split your arrow in half.

You don’t know exactly what followed afterward but from what followed after it appeared that Merida got into an argument with her family and ran off into the woods and apparently met some kind of spells seller or magical knickknack peddler as the next day following this event you found Meridia out in the woods with a bear of all things and was apparently arguing with it about something.

After some explanation it turned out that the bear was actually Merida’s mother and that she somehow accidentally cursed her mother into a bear, along with her three younger brothers.

Merida originally begged you not to tell her father or the other Scotsmen of what happened, but as she pleaded, you cut her off and told her that you would not only keep your gob shut but that might also know of a way to lift the cursed if she told you the key phrasing of the spell of the curse. Merida was both relieved and thankful for your help as she went on to explain that the curse could only be lifted if she were to 'mend' something; she was completely lost on what that could mean. After this little explanation, Merida and her mother went off to go grab some food as the change in form had caused a massive increase in her mother’s appetite.

So while the mother and daughter went off fish, you began to think over the words of the curse in order to find the key purpose it was trying to teach.

For you see curses are tricky and often have a moral to them, and if lifted improperly it would only make the cursed even worse. So after Merida and her mother came back with fish and began to eat you began to have a long conversation about the curse and eventually deduce that the curse had something to do with the relationship she had with her mother and the whatever needed “mending” was something obviously dear to the two of them.

So the two of you began to converse and in doing so you learned the entire life's story of the young princess and discovered the controlling nature her mother had over her life and how she tried to turn her into a proper “lady” as she grew up. Merida being ever the rebel fought back and rebelled against her mother’s controlling nature, which only fed into a loop which eventually ended up having the two eventually hate each other. As this conversation between the two of you went on and on, Merida eventually became curious about your own personal history and after a little questioning you began telling her about your many adventures through the multi-verse. Much to her amazement as Merida and her mother listen to every word you had to say and were amazed at the many pictures you had of these different worlds that you went too.

Anyway, after this little story session between you and Merida, you eventually deduce that the object that needed mending was an old tapestry that Merida and her mother created a long time ago when Merida was just a child. However, as you discovered this, it appeared that Merida’s mother’s condition was beginning to grow worse as she began to lose her humanity and was slowly becoming more and more of a bear than a human. It got so bad that she even attacked Merida and was so horrified by her actions that she ran off, to which Merida immediately gave chase and told you to go back to the castle and grab the tapestry.

Which you quickly rushed off to do so and quite easily retrieve the tapestry and immediately ran back to Merida who informed you that her mother ran off to some ancient Druid circle in the forest. Thankfully you arrived just in time to stop both Merida’s father from killing his wife and stop some giant mystical black bear from killing them all.

Following which, Merida fixed the tapestry turned her mother back into a human along with her brothers, and all was right in the kingdom. Though you did stay for a little bit longer in order to talk with the spell peddler that lived in the forest to understand her magic a little bit better, during which you became great friends with Merida who began to show an interest in you. Which became rather awkward over time as her brothers, her father, and her mother surprisingly saw daughter’s interest in you and try to support said relationship and get you to marry her as they knew that you were perhaps the best candidate to be Merida’s husband.

However, you were not one to be tied down and definitely didn’t want to have to rule a kingdom at that time and quickly left that world leaving only a letter behind and a large mass of gold as thanks for letting you stay in their humble abode.

Yeah… Not exactly the best goodbye but luckily the temporal reset you won’t have to deal with any of that awkwardness.

So you ask yourself you want to recruit a fiery Scottish redhead to aid you in your conquest to bring balance to the multi-verse?
