Chapter 36 by Akula
The Cake is A Lie
Shower Scenes
Holy fuck. This was weird.
It was easy for Jessica to forget that she was still standing in a shower with her Master, lost in her lust. The new heavenly taste of Simon’s fucking semen of all things still lingered in her mouth. Another reminder that she was a genie, knowing it wouldn’t have worked on her if she was human.
Thank goodness no one was around to see her react to it, or allowing Simon to view the fuller extent of her urges. The blonde shuddered as the green light and misty-emerald clouds appeared from her necklace, transforming the bathroom in the evening into a sunny day at a luxurious setting at one of her father’s properties outside of town, people bustling inside and out.
The shower was gone now, long replaced by the white and colorful trimmings of decorated columns and great white halls. Jessica’s eyes widened at the sight of it. It took moving one of her bare feet and still feeling the wet shower tile to reassure her that she wasn't really here.
Simon’s eyes widened as Jessica looked over at him, she stared at his naked and wet torso, biting down on her lip at the sight of him. He wasn’t built like an Adonis, but the sight of her naked Master was still arousing for his genie. She felt her face feel warm again as she looked down and saw the sight of her own naked chest, bare in the illusory sunlight.
Jessica’s breasts had always been the envy of every girl and the want of every boy at Eastlake High School, just as the rest of her had been.
Thank god this was just an illusion, time traveling naked would have only made her more humiliated.
Her father had spared no expense for his wedding. It was almost awe inspiring. Jessica always talked with Stephanie about how she'd wanted to have the wedding of a Princess - and her Stepmother would frequently ask her various questions about what Jess would have for hers someday.
Now the genie knew why she would ask those questions, because that was what her father had given her.
The naked pair, glistening and wet from the shower they still occupied looked around the bustling event, unnoticed among the illusion’s large cast of players and people.
“Wow,” Jess let out in an audible gasp, “This is crazy!”
“Your Dad must’ve spent a small fortune,” her Master observed.
He placed a hand on her left butt cheek to get her attention. The blonde jumped in her own skin as she swiveled to look up at him. His eyes widened a bit surprised.
“I should probably tell you that your eyes are glowing right now.”
Say what?
Jessica’s eyes widened as she took a moment to register the young man’s statement. This was much different than just telling people to do what she told them. Replaying entire moments in time? Casting illusions? Her eyes were glowing?
Oh god, she was turning into one of those comic book characters!
“Am I the Emerald Witch, now!?!” she asked her Master exasperated.
Simon’s shoulders and neck slumped forward as he gave the genie the same look that matched the thought in his head.
“Really?”
Right, right. Sorry, Master. Jessica wouldn’t suggest that again!
Still, it was unnerving to the blonde to know that, she didn't know herself, she didn't understand herself - and she couldn't help but long for the time when she had. No glowing eyes, no magic powers - she just wanted to be normal again.
The blonde cheerleader shook herself out of it, sighing as she wondered where they should start. There was plenty of things to choose from. The most important being to get into her Father’s and Stepmother’s changing rooms so that she could….
“Patrick! Don’t lose sight of him!”
Now that was a familiar sounding voice. She turned to her Master who also heard it, his eyebrow being raised.
“Mom?” he asked the air.
Jessica watched as a man as tall as Simon ran towards and then phased through them in a suit, his dark brown hair trying to keep in the same shape as he laughed awkwardly.
“Sorry Valentina, he’s on a roll again!”
The blonde genie watched as another figure phased through her as well, carrying another child in her arms as she shook her head of intricate pale blonde hair wearing a blue dress that hugged her figure. The woman muttered something in another language as she puffed her cheeks and walked ahead of the man, handing a child over to him. Jessica’s glowing eyes widened as she recognized them almost immediately. She gawked and raised her finger.
“Those are your parents!”
Damn! Simon really must’ve taken after his Dad, similar eyes, same style of hair, but a face more like his mother and the-tiny version of her best friend currently in her father’s arms!
"Oh. My. God!"
Jessica let out a gasp in excitement at the sight of the red-haired girl with green-blue eyes wearing a similar dress to the one her Mother wore so that they would be matching. She grabbed Simon’s hand and pointed at the little girl.
“Simon! Simon! Look! Tiny Sammy!” she squealed in delight.
Sam was so cute! The future quip snapping, intimidating “Red Queen” of Eastlake High was watching her mother curiously as the pale blonde dashed ahead to grab someone off the ground ahead of them. The genie couldn’t contain her delight.
Oh man! She would have so much ammunition with this! There was no way this could get any-
Jessica let out a loud squeal of surprised delight as she saw who Valentina Harris returned with in her arms.
“OH MY GOD, TINY MASTER!” the blonde turned giddily as Simon was left staring at the 4-year-old version of himself wearing a set of headphones, one of his cheeks puffed similar to his mother’s as he squirmed in her arms wearing a tuxedo that he clearly wasn’t a fan of.
Jessica was bouncing on her feet at the sight of him. Simon's younger-self looked so fucking cute it was unbelievable! She wanted to fall over and flail at the sight of him. And his tiny self looked so distressed wearing that little suit that made him look far more dressed up than the rest of his family.
She wanted to hug him! Damnit! Why did illusions have to be so hard to touch?
Unfortunately the more adult Simon was trying to get her attention again as she remained focused on his younger self like he was a plush toy. She had remembered their time together, but seeing him and his sister this little and with such clarity was a treat,
“Uh, Jess,” her Master’s voice called out to her.
Annoyed with him taking her attention away from the tiny tuxedo Simon, the current version smirked and pointed to his left as the genie was made to look.
A child’s voice calling out and drew the attention of the whole ballroom.
“Simon!”
Jessica stood frozen as she watched a young blonde girl running through the throngs of guests and invitees wearing a custom dress that matched the colors and themes of the wedding party. The skirt in the shape of muticolor spring petals that went down to her bouncing and happy feet. She looked like the happiest little flower in existence in that moment.
That's Me...
Jessica watched as her younger self bounced around Simon's mother’s feet in a circle as the woman laughed and smiled down to her.
“Hello, Jessica!”
“Hi!” her younger self greeted enthusiastically to Mrs. Harris, who placed her son on the ground in front of her.
The boy looked up bashfully before the little happy blonde girl squeezed onto him, cheering out, “Simon! Hug!”
Jessica turned her head away along with her Master from the two laughing children as her younger-looking father approached in a stylish and very well-tailored tuxedo of his own.
The blonde genie smiled in awe at her father’s appearance. Theodore Edwards had almost the entire package at that current moment. His brown hair and clean shaven face showed his more sculpted features, but Jessica had never seen her father’s hair as dark and grown out as it was here.
“Now Princess, don’t cause a scene. You and your friend have an important job to do, today!” the Edwards Patriarch declared.
He then pecked Valentina Harris’ cheek and shook Patrick’s hand as he smiled, “Thank you for coming through.”
Jess watched her father take Simon's mother's hand again briefly. Patrick Harris seemed annoyed with the special attention given to his wife, though she simply smiled it off. If only to be nice.
“Well, Stephanie seemed pretty insistent on including our little guy, so we’re happy to help.”
Jessica continued to watch the parents talk in front of them as her father laughed, “Well, he seems to be a ladies man already - he definitely knows how to keep my princess occupied. I need to meet with a few people, associates of mine, politics as it were. Can’t get away from it, can I? Do you mind if I leave her with you until we get started? There’s a good place you can let them run around if you would like?”
Simon’s father smiled, “That’s no trouble, Jessica is staying with us while you’re on your honeymoon as well, then?”
Jessica watched as her father winked at the man and grinned like a Cheshire cat, “You know it. Here, I’ll give the two a head start in keeping them busy.”
The genie and her Master watched as her father knelt down to speak to his young daughter, “Jessica, go show Simon your favorite spot. Okay?”
The younger version of herself smiled in delight, “Okay Daddy!”
Both young adults watched as the little blonde girl grabbed the boy by the hand and ran away off to somewhere outside the building. Jessica had to laugh at her younger self’s behavior.
“Man, look at me! I’m so happy to see you, Master!”
Simon sighed as he reminded her why they were there,
"We aren’t here to see us, Jess. Remember?”
The blonde stopped trying to follow their younger selves outside, her hand resting on the invisible wall of the shower.
Jessica watched as the younger version of her best friend watched the two other children run away from her and immediately pouted. Sammy tugged at her father’s shirt and voiced her displeasure.
“Daddy, I wanna play too!”
Patrick Harris smiled as he handed his daughter back to her mother, “Okay Sammy, Mommy will take you.”
Sammy was adorable. She didn't want to be left behind!
"Awww, Tiny Sammy, are you jealous?" Jessica giggled and teased.
The genie watched as the woman disappeared with her friend as Simon’s father remained standing next to her own, the smile quickly fading from his face.
Huh?
“You weren’t ready to be a father, were you?”
Jessica’s eyes widened as she heard the downplayed question from Simon’s father directed at her own. The groom of the wedding letting out a chuckle as he glanced at the other man while running a hand through his hair.
“What gave you that impression Harris?”
Patrick seemed to have passed on a familiar trait of perception to his son, glancing at the blonde’s father again with a shrug, “Would you even care if I told you?”
The pair watched as the two men smiled to each other in the crowd but the air around their fathers had suddenly become much more tense. Jessica waited for her father’s answer expectantly. She loved the man, and Simon’s father was very protective as well. She viewed them both as good father figures. Why would that even-
“Not really,” her father’s voice chuckled, “I didn’t have to be either. Just would’ve been easier if her mother stayed in the picture.”
Daddy...?
“And what was she like?” Patrick asked.
Jessica's dad let out a smirk as he glanced over, not saying a word as he looked at his wedding party, “It doesn’t really matter. Stephanie has earned the right to help raise my daughter. That’s why I’m marrying her.” he paused, then chuckled, “Well, not the only reason. I’m sure you’re aware.”
Patrick coughed, “Bit on the young side, isn’t she, Ted?”
Jessica watched as her father patted Mr. Harris on the back, with a wife smile “Aren’t they always, Harris? See, how does a man like you wind up with a woman like that, I wonder...” Theodore Edwards openly questioned to her Master’s father, nodding to the pale blonde in the background, “A Russian, no less.”
The implication was obvious.
Patrick snorted, but smiled lovingly toward the mother of his children, “I had to make a grand gesture. When it comes to the people we love, sometimes it just all fits together when we least expect it.”
Jessica felt her Master’s emotions as Simon smiled at his father with a bit of newfound pride in his parents.
“Thanks, Dad.”
At least one of them was getting something positive out of this so far.
Meanwhile Theodore crossed his arms and nodded, eyeing Simon’s mother for a brief moment and then having a thought of his own.
“I’ll have to take that advice to heart. In the meantime, I can leave my daughter with your son and your family’s capable hands, Patrick? It’ll at least keep her out of my hair until she’s ready to perform.”
Ready to perform.
He was talking about his 4-year-old daughter like she was a set piece, he was talking about her.
The two teenagers watched Simon’s father shake his head and go to find his wife and children. Having done enough to put up with her father. The blonde frowned, her head dropping after hearing their conversation. Her Dad was so dismissive of her mother’s absence... Whether or not it was caused by her mother’s actions was less distressing to the genie than the rest.
Jessica's Dad had never really spoken to her about her birth mom - she had always assumed the memory was too painful for him, that there had been resentment for her abandoning her. But the way he talked about her now, Jess got the upsetting impression that he didn't talk about her because he didn't care...
“Did he…not want me?” she found herself asking aloud in a whisper.
Simon's frown eased before he turned to smile at her reassuringly, “Your Dad loves you, Jess... I’m sure it isn’t like that...”
She looked at her Master clinging to the relief in his words. He had to be right. Her father called her Princess, bought her gifts when she was sad or upset, and even brought a new mother into her life. She was his only child, after all...
Simon pointed his thumb in the direction where her father was heading, “Should we go check on your Stepmother?”
The genie nodded at the idea. If there was one other person she wanted to see at this event, it would be Stephanie.
Jessica wasn't sure how to get there though - they were trapped to to confines of the shower. She and Simon couldn't move from their little cubicle sized square, but she could choose where that square was...
The scene shifted from downstairs and moved through the building to the bridal suite for the event in a disorientating blur. The naked pair clung to each other to fight off the vertigo.
Jessica’s eyes widened as the scene stopped moving, finding themselves amongst a group of various attractive women, some of them as young as she was now as an 18-year old, gathered together and gossiping among themselves. It was almost reminiscent of being in the locker room during cheerleader practice, but Simon had another way of putting it.
“Is this a Bride’s room or backstage for a beauty pageant?” his voice asked in disbelief.
The blonde couldn’t help but snort at the very blunt, but accurate description her Master had decided to come up with for the various females gathered around her Stepmother.
A group of them, most likely in their 20s, gathered around the blonde woman sitting in the chair that Jessica moved around to see for herself with a smile.
Stephanie was young, composed, and drop-dead gorgeous for a bride-to-be. Hell, her Master’s eyes widened at the sight of her, believing that she could even be a blood relative of Jessica's for their similarity. The woman sat relaxed in her chair wearing a silk robe as several women finished the final touches on her make-up and hair.
“Teddy really went all out for you!” one of the Bridesmaids cooed in adoration.
“Of course he did,” Stephanie replied confidently, taking a moment to check over at the fresh manicure of her nails.
Another woman with a much darker complexion, of Indian-descent, flipped her stylish ponytail from her face and spoke almost like a girl from the valley, “Like, c’mon Steph. We’ve all been partying and playing with Teddy Bear for years, but you became his favorite. How’d you do it? What’s your secret?”
Teddy Bear?
Jessica’s eyes anxiously darted around the room to all the various beautiful young women around the room as the genie felt something clawing in the back of her mind. She was attached to Stephanie as her mother-figure, but all these other women being there were starting to make her worried.
Why were they all giving her father playful nicknames?
What did they mean by partying?
She felt the feeling of more memories bubbling up to the surface. The blonde cheerleader backing into the invisible cubicle corner as her Master reached out to grab her hand tightly.
“Jess, is everything okay?”
She tried to recompose herself, “These, These women... I don’t like them.”
He raised an eyebrow confused, “But they’re your Stepmom’s friends, aren’t they?”
A familiar feeling of terror and anxiety crawled into the back of the genie’s mind as she found herself surrounded by these women. Some of them looked familiar, usually whenever Stephanie said she was going out for a “girls night” or Jessica would be about to leave for the Harris Household to spend the night, she'd seen them.
Simon’s eyes widened, Jessica having to look in the same direction he was, as her future-Stepmother stood up, discarding her robe to reveal the shimmering pearl white bridal lingerie and garter she would be wearing underneath her wedding dress.
Stephanie had no qualms about strutting herself around the room, garnering the envious attention of every woman. Just like Jessica had done with the Squad Sleepovers or any event she was hosting among her various girlfriends.
Exactly like that, the genie realized. Only Stephanie didn’t have the same sense of embarrassment that she would in a moment like that. The woman only smiled confidently as she spoke to the adoring throng gathered around her.
“Would you like to know my secret?” the woman teased with a playful grin.
Her audience giggled and nodded at the bride-to-be as she strutted herself back-and-forth, Jessica having to push Simon out of the way as he blushed furiously at the woman walking through him on her path. Stephanie commanded the room with her sexuality and prowess, something Jessica admired and now knew she learned from the woman.
She really was just like an older sister, a family member who-
“I played with Teddy’s little doll while you begged him to stay on the yacht.”
The genie felt her heart drop and her eyes widened at her Stepmother’s answer. Her mouth opened in silent protest, feeling like she'd been slapped.
Little Doll.
Why would she say something like that? Her emerald eyes continued to watch, anxious, as the other blonde bombshell worked the room, running her fingers under the chins of each woman.
“We all wanted to be with Teddy. He rescued us, he loved us, we’re all his girls and we all competed with one another for the right to be his wife, but you all failed to realize something.”
Stephanie smiled, “I love him, I would do anything to have that security he provides us, and all the benefits, of course! But, Teddy has plenty of girls, women, but what he needs is a woman that's willing to take care of a child.”
The blonde woman smiled, “A rich single-father with a baby daughter - I wanted to be with him, but to be with him, you must also be with her. To take care of her, to nurture her. Jessica is such an adorable little thing, isn’t she? Of course her friendship with her little friend has made the job much easier to handle. I could barely get her to talk to me without crying before that. She was such a miserable little thing to take care of!”
The genie lowered her head as she heard the woman that would be her mother talk about her as a nuisance, as Stephanie sighed and smiled happily.
“You girls never took the time, like I did. I had to comfort her whenever our parties woke her up. She'd wail in the middle of night at the worst times! It was an effort just to keep her locked up in her rooms upstairs! Teddy is a busy man, and he doesn’t always have time to deal with little distractions. You girls can be so exciting it’s intimidating, and making Jessica cry when we were all trying to have fun? It puts a damper in everything. Like you, Amala. You remember the costume party, when you were dressed up as that belly dancer a couple years ago and you scared her?”
Jessica watched as a woman of middle eastern descent giggled and laughed, “My Arabian Nights outfit? Aw, c’mon Steph! That was adorable! She thought I was really magic!”
Stephanie sighed, her breasts bouncing in her lingerie as she pointed at the woman, “You say that, but you weren’t the one who had to make a two-year old stop clawing at your French Maid uniform thinking the “mean lady” was going to trap her inside a plastic lamp! I had to put her down for almost the next week so she wouldn’t try to run into Teddy’s bedroom after wetting the bed! Besides she thought half of your costumes made you look like monsters!”
The rest of the women in the room laughed at the expense of the oblivious young girl currently running around outside the building with her friends. Jessica had been blissfully unaware that any of this had taken place until this moment. She clutched to Simon even tighter.
Stephanie smiled and laughed with them, "She's such an adorable little wind-up doll! All you have to do is get her going and watch her go!"
Now her body shook under the constant barrage of the women in the room talking about her.
“So Steph? Are you going to ever ditch the Maid getup now that you're the Lady of the Manor?” one woman laughed.
“Maybe you can give it to your new step-daughter once she’s old enough! She doesn’t play with the toys her father buys her, anyway! If you can wind her up, maybe you can have her do all the chores for us and save the money on staff!”
Stephanie smirked and ran a hand through her hair as she crossed her arms, “Please! I don’t plan to be the Evil Stepmother trope, girls! But with any luck, I’ll be able to mold that little doll right into the good little girl Teddy wants. Quiet and out of the way. Besides, I always wanted a little sister. She'll do nicely!”
The genie’s head dropped as the betrayal from her Stepmother’s words ate into her soul. Her Stepmother was beautiful, confident, and controlled the whole room. And she thought of her as nothing more than a bargaining chip, a joke, a pet?
Jess whimpered, this was worse than having Brad cheat on her with Tiffany.
And it only got worse from that point on as all the women squealed and let out claps causing Jessica’s Master to cover his ears.
“Jesus Fucking Christ. What the hell is with them?”
Jessica’s emerald eyes looked up frantically at the reason why.
Her Father had entered the room, the throngs of bridesmaids and Stephanie’s entourage rubbing their hands on him as if he were their country’s world leader, or a celebrity.
His eyes turned possessive and a dark smile formed on his lips, “Hello, my dear.”
Stephanie bit her lip as she suddenly posed and looked sultrily in order to tease the much older man, “Hello, Husband.”
Her father ran a finger under her Stephanie’s chin like the blonde with the body of a glamour model was one of his many possessions. Her voice purred and cooed at the man as she glanced up at him with sultry grey eyes.
“It’s bad luck to see the Bride before the wedding you know...”
Theodore Edwards smiled with a growl, “I buy my own luck, dear.”
Stephanie shuddered with delight as Jessica felt her heart twist and turn in her chest. The young genie hoping her father would say something to the woman. Tell her she shouldn’t say such things about his daughter, her soon-to-be-daughter!
But her father only grabbed the woman possessively and gave her a long kiss, turning back to the other women in the room when he was finished.
“Ladies! Get to it! The five who do their best today get to join the Bride on her honeymoon!”
The women all celebrated and scurried about to get the wedding underway at all costs.
She couldn’t believe it. She couldn’t fucking believe it. Jessica’s father, the man she still called “Daddy” after all his insistence, was a full-on playboy. He wasn’t even angry if he had heard that whole debacle!
The blonde genie felt her eyes watering up as she seethed under her breath. Was she only a nuisance? Didn’t they love her?
Theodore Edwards smirked to his blonde fiance, “Patrick Harris agreed to take Jessica in so we can go on our trip.”
Stephanie smiled and gave the man a kiss, “That means, I get you all to myself then, doesn’t it?”
The rich man chuckled as he stroked the front of the pearl bridal lingerie. The much younger future trophy wife smacking his hand away and wagging a finger teasingly.
“Now, now, not yet, Teddy Bear. Not unless you want to extend the honeymoon for a week.”
Jessica watched her father grin darkly, “Oh, I can arrange for that.”
The man traced a finger down the young bride’s face and collar bone, then down her shapely breasts, toned stomach, and down into the garter below. Stephanie smiled sultrily as she crossed her legs in her stockings and heels.
“So, have I proven myself to be a worthy successor?”
Jessica’s eyes widened at the question the woman asked to her father. Stephanie continuing to speak to him, “I’ve done everything you’ve asked, sir. I’ve done as she would have done, I’ve had the surgeries you told me to have, and I’ve taken care of the girl as you asked of me. Have I not earned my reward, Husband?”
Theodore Edwards chuckled and nodded, “Yes, Stephanie. You’ve done well. Asking for Jessica’s little friend to be the ring bearer has put her in a much better mood.”
The woman let out a moan as he smiled, “I don’t think Patrick and Valentina would mind taking care of Jessica for an extra week so we can have some more fun. You’ve earned a break as a reward from taking care of my little Princess, after all.”
Stephanie stood on her tip-toes and planted a kiss on the man’s lips, then sauntered past as a further tease, “Then I’ll see you soon, husband.”
A break, FROM HER, as a reward.
Jessica legs collapsed onto the tile floor beneath her, not feeling the carpet she could see. She was on the verge of tears, the heartbreak upon hearing her father and her stepmother talk about her while they were alone.
Successor.
Her father made Stephanie not just to look like she was related to the blonde genie, but that she would replace another blonde genie.
Her Mother.
He had turned Stephanie into a doll, an approximation of Jess' absent mother - and the blonde was happy with it.
Her Father never spoke of her as Stephanie had of him, and only then it had been in the most unremarkable of terms. But the absence of Jessica’s mother had left a mark on the man as it had on their child.
The child they would dump on Simon’s parents for another week just so they could have fun on a honeymoon, with another group of women that her Stepmother had been a part of. They didn’t even care about scaring the younger Jessica, confusing her. They only wanted to make sure she hadn’t been a bother for her father.
“Master. Get me out of here,” Jessica’s broken voice whispered.
Make it go away, Master, Simon. Please make it stop. Make it not real. Do anything. There was one thing that could make her feel better in that moment. The illusion changed again to the familiar view of the exterior of the building and the sunlight. The sound of children laughing in the foreground.
That was better.
Jessica looked up to see a hand reaching down to her and smiled. Her Master was still there with her, smiling at her to let her know he would be there for her. That it would be okay. That he still cared, and that he would be there for her. The naked blonde cheerleader wiped her eyes and let her Master help her onto her feet.
She sniffed and smiled at him, squeezing Simon's hand for reassure as he said the only thing he could think of that would make any of this better,
“We had a lot of fun those two weeks, Jess. I bet I have an album of it I can find, too...”
“Y-Yeah,” she found herself saying softly, gazing at her younger self. Innocent, naïve, unaware of the painful words being said about her inside.
At least she was with people that cared about her out here, but the sting was still fresh. Everything took on a new context for her from seeing that one moment. How many times had her father and her stepmother run off somewhere the moment she became old enough to stay by herself?
Her father being so strict with her, not letting her have what she wanted unless Stephanie approved of it, having to be perfect for them in order to have any freedom.
Freedom. Ha.
From the sounds of her early life, they practically kept her locked away in a gilded cage until she made friends with Simon and Sam.
The genie felt depressed again as another part of her life had a façade torn off to reveal the world kept from her. This time the one she had with her parents,
“Simon! Simon!”
The genie looked up as she heard the happy voice of her younger self calling out her Master’s name as she ran around in circles in the open courtyard and garden of the property. The little girl held her arms out and ran through and around the older versions of herself and Simon unknowingly while the younger Simon, tuxedo clad and his hair a brighter shade of red in his youth, chased after her with the headphones now absent from his head.
The little blonde girl laughed as she leaped on the grass and watched him attempt to chase after, only to be stopped by his mother in a panic, “Nyet! Simon!”
Jessica’s younger self laughed as she hopped back over to the boy as he was placed back down on his feet while his sister ran over to them.
“Mommy says Simon can’t get dirty!” the little redhead in her blue dress protested.
“Okay!” the blonde girl chirped with happy glee.
Jessica smiled at the younger versions of themselves, feeling a warmth re-enter her tortured heart as she saw how innocent and happy they were. Oblivious to all the adults and the adult things that the Master and Genie had now witnessed and learned.
Valentina Harris smiled at the three children and quickly moved away to the call of her Husband in the distance to keep an eye on them from the background.
The younger Simon whined and pulled at the bow tie on his collar, trying to take it off as he pouted. The genie looked at the 4-year-old version of her Master, trying to lighten her own mood,
“You really don’t like that suit.”
Her Master’s voice chuckled, allowing the two of them to glance at once another as they continued to hold hands. Simon’s hazel eyes and smile sending a comforting warmth at her, “I hate ties. They’re really constricting on the neck. Felt like I was being choked.”
The Cheer Captain nodded as she looked back, watching her 4-year-old self and his sister looking at each other, with Sammy frowning at the younger Jess.
“How come you get that dress?”
Jessica smiled as she watched the blonde child lift her arms triumphantly in the air and declared her title.
“I’m the flower girl!”
Sammy looked confused as the tiny-version of Simon tilted his head, making the blonde girl giggle at him as he began wandering around looking for something.
“What’s that?” the 4-year-old Sam asked curiously.
The younger Jessica hopped and then threw her arms around animatedly, “I get to throw flowers at people when we go inside! It’ll be fun!”
The little redheaded girl looked at the blonde as she skipped over to where her brother was wandering off.
“I-I wanna do that!”
“You have to have flowers!” the blonde child added happily.
The voice of the young boy deadpanned to his sister and friend, getting their attention.
“Flowers.”
The Queen of Eastlake nearly gasped as she watched the younger Simon walking back over with an item in his hand, holding it out to the blonde girl.
And then promptly tripping over from his pants, making the younger versions of his sister and Jessica run over to him.
“Ow.”
The teenager couldn’t suppress her laugh at watching the younger version of her Master tripping over adorably as he was running back to give her younger self something. In that moment, the genie’s eyes widened as she thought back to the night Simon wished for her to remember him. That first night together.
That face he made. The one that reminded her of the moment he was disappointed when he tried to give her-
“Master. Master! I remember this! I remember this!” Jessica said as she squeezed down on the young man’s hand with a delighted sense of amazement.
She remembered what happened next! As it was happening right in front of her! This was the moment! This was the place!
The younger Simon got onto his feet and looked down at the destroyed and lost plant in his hands. His face immediately becoming sad, a familiar frown on his face, as he looked away from the younger Jessica in front of him.
He lost the flower he wanted to give her.
“Simon! You broke it!” his sister cried out, the red-haired girl then ran over to find what he had grabbed.
Jessica smiled excitedly to her Master as she stood in front of him and pointed, “I remember this moment. I remember how sad you were that you lost that flower! You made that face when I tried to reassure you on Saturday. This is what reminded me of it. You were right, Simon! I remember this happening!”
Her Master’s didn't react in the same way she had hoped; his eyes widened nervously as he continued to watch the scene play out in front of them. Instead of the smile she had expected, a distressed look formed on his face as his mouth became agape,
“Jess. I don’t remember it this way.”
What?
She looked up at her Master, placing her hands on his naked torso confused as to what he was saying, “I mean, of course you were….”
Simon began shaking his still wet head of hair as he looked on as the scene continued to play out, his voice becoming more shaken as he realized something before she did.
“Jess. That wasn’t what I meant. I remember you smiling because I gave you….”
The blonde’s eyes widened along with her Master’s as they heard the boy mumble something unintelligible, causing them to watch their younger selves again. Jessica’s younger self leaned forward as the smaller Simon sniffled.
“I wish I didn’t break it.”
The genie watched in shock along with her Master as the broken stalks in the boy’s hand suddenly came back to life, and blossomed brightly into a multi-colored array of petals. The 4-year-old version of Jessica taking one from the boy’s hand as she smiled brightly.
“Simon! It’s so pretty!”
The 4-year old girl began laughing and smiling hugging the boy and grabbing his hand as she called out to his sister.
“Sammy! Look! Pretty Flower! Simon has a pretty flower!”
Jessica's knees collapsed in horror as her younger self ran off cheering and smiling, leaving her older self and her Master to contemplate what they'd seen. Jessica looked down as the floor of the shower began to emerge again, feeling her hand squeezing tightly onto her Master’s as he knelt down beside her.
The familiar white walls and glass door of the Master Bathroom in the Harris home rushed back to surround them, the green clouds and energy disappearing as the whole illusion and reconstructed moment in time dissipated in a flash.
Jessica wanted to stop breathing, she wanted to scream out, her eyes finally broke open, welled with tears as her Master knelt down beside her.
His voice somber but acknowledging of the reality that they now knew.
“Jess. We both saw it, but we didn’t know then that you could….”
“That I used MAGIC,” the Cheer Captain’s voice acknowledged brokenly, seething, as she began to sob on the floor.
Until now she'd been clutching, desperately to some strand of hope that this was all a nightmare. That everything that had happened since her 18th birthday had been a change, something new, she had been human until then, and she'd clutched to the idea that she could be human again. She could've still been normal - this could've all ended... But not now... Now she saw it...
“Because, I’m a fucking, MOTHERFUCKING genie! Because it didn’t just HAPPEN when I was bound. It won’t just disappear and go away! It's what I am, it's what I've always been!”
Her voice became more and more saddened and despondent - that her wish for this nightmare to be over couldn't come true - because that wasn’t the nightmare at all.
The real dream, the real actual fucking dream, was that she, Jessica Edwards was even CAPABLE of being the Future Prom Queen, Queen of Eastlake High School, Perfect Daughter, Head Cheerleader, HUMAN BEING….
Her nose filled with snot as the tears kept coming down.
“I was born this way. I’ve ALWAYS been this way. I can’t escape from it.”
Jessica felt her face scrunch as she latched herself onto her Master’s torso, burying her face into his chest as he restarted the shower again to mask her cries. The pair holding each other on the cubicle floor.
She was a genie.
Not a person. Not a human. A genie.
A genie with no Mother, a distant Father, and Stepmother that wasn’t a real mother at all...
The only person she had, that she'd ever had, was the little boy who had now become her Master.
The one that continued to hug her as she cried.
Oof.
