A stroll through the city

After the morning at the spa, the two of you decide to have a lazy stroll through the city. With a coffee to go in one hand and your girlfriends hand in the other you enjoy the warm summer day and bask in the sunlight and the semi discrete glances from men and women checking you out.

The city looks so different through a girl’s eye than through a guy’s, that you find it hard to believe that it is the same city you grew up in. It starts with the ice cream vendors talking, flirting with you, calling you 'bella',to get you to buy something. The street artists angle their show towards you, sometimes even integrating you. So many people looking at you, smiling friendly, sometimes letting you skip ahead in the queue at a store.

But it’s not just the people. The city itself has changed. Shopping windows are much more interesting, the beautiful dresses are catching and holding your eyes with ease. Doe has to drag you away from a jewelers display with an exquisite collection of earrings and matching bracelets.

That it is not the city that has changed but you and your field of interest comes clear when you find yourself standing in a bookshop with a birth and childcare booklet in your hand. One finger tracing the outlines of the pregnant woman on the cover who gently, lovingly strokes her belly swollen with child.

"Lost in your dreams?", Doe catches you and ripping you out of your trance. Surprised you stare at the book in your hand. You feel a blush rising.

"No need to be ashamed. We have all been there. The thought of creating a new life. It can be overwhelming. Of course, for you it would mean to stay in this body forever. Have you thought about that? Do you want to stay like this?"
