Chapter 18 by Ganti

You have a lair and minions, what more could a Necromancer want?

Friends, Family, Lovers and a non-ruined house, but you'll settle for more minions

You sigh, checking the status of the Shallow Grave. Hopefully it started with a corpse in it- either as part of your conquest bonus or just because. You hate Walking Corpses, but beggars can't be choosers and you need combat minions to help you fight. Sadly, corpses are getting harder and harder to acquire anymore; it used to be that players generated them when they died, now they just produce respawn lights. Short answer: No, the Shallow Grave doesn't have anything because that would make things easy for you. At least it's only got twenty hours left instead of the expected forty-eight. You'll take what favors you can get from the gods.

All right, if you don't have easy access to corpses, you'll have to accept mildly difficult access. The goal of this is to get minions to help you stay alive, not get killed trying for minions, so hard access is right out. Thankfully, most non-outsider NPCs still generated corpses so you had options... if you could survive fighting them. And found some you'd be willing to kill. It still didn't quite sit right with you to be going after village guards; most of them were just trying to keep their people intact. That left other <Monster> tagged entities for the most part. You're not sure how useful the Map function will be when it comes to finding them; it supposedly has bandit camps and monster dens marked, but you THINK you saw an update about 'manual mapping' meaning you had to explore to get it to fill in. Or have minions do it. Which... well, you just sent some out doing resource harvesting, but you don't have dedicated scouts. The resource gatherers might find something, you suppose.

The cheerful *DING!* of a popup draws you from your thoughts.

Two Vampire Bats wish to join your dungeon!

Accept? Y/N

Well, here you'd just been considering the lack of dedicated scouts. Odd that it's listed as 'wish to join' instead of 'were converted'- most of the time the Blood Bat family hangs out in whatever ruined structures they can, and this counts, for now. Shrugging, you accept them, and set one of them to work doing some very basic scouting of the nearby area. Best to know who and what is in the area before they know of you. The one you're keeping with you is a bit of insurance in case someone DOES attack you before you can get any corpses. Bloodbats, even juveniles like your Vampire Bats, can prove to be effective skirmishers. Flight makes them hard to hit, and their natural life-drain makes them more durable then they appear at first, if still a touch fragile.

You're interrupted from your musings by the sound of a door opening coming from the first floor. Seems you have a guest.

*BWOOOP*

Your dungeon has been entered by a hostile <Orc Scavenging Party>

Party consists of 3x Goblin Looters and 1x Orc Overseer

Well. You wanted some corpses, and if you survive this, four of them just got delivered to you.

Time to fight orcs, apparently.
